Is it possible to extend the heigth on 2 piece pivot type scope mounts? With the help of another member I have located a set of Weaver pivot mounts but I'm unsure of their heigth.
I was told by the ATK/Weaver Co. today that their were two sizes made which were Low & Medium. I have plans to use a scope with a 44mm to 50mm Obj. lens. If its the low mount I doubt it would fit at all, and the medium size is still going to be hit or miss. The rifle is a commercial FN M-98.
I had thought about trying to make a part from steel to raise them then use the factory threads in the receiver to mount them.
The reason behind using pivot mounts is so I can use iron sights if needed while hunting. Some articles I've read say the pivot mount would never return to zero. I had them on a Remington 700 BDL years ago and they worked great.
Thx!
