I was looking to buy another semi-auto for Range shooting and home defense.
I have a 92fs but dont want it to be my main range gun . I've heard good things about the CZ 75 . And i like that they make a single action model .
I've heard these are very reliable . Just was wondering if they are fairly durable as well for range shooting ? Thanks

Very durable and reliable. Unfortunately I am selling mine due to reasons not related to disliking the gun (trust me, I would NOT be selling it if I didn't have to). Sure, I only have a few hundred rounds through mine, but in that time it's been flawless and I've fired a few CZs with upwards of 20k through them and still running strong with only minor replacement parts along the way.

Thanks for the info . I really like the design of these and the SA option .
Iam just about set on one :)

very durable. many people use it for sport shooting and easily pass 25,000 rounds and more. some put 1,200+ rounds a month.

i have an aluminum alloy CZ and it's running at 17,000 with no signs of slowing down.

After you shoot the CZ, you'll be selling the 92FS for another CZ variant. Trust me.

I own the CZ 75 SA. Very accurate for a service pistol and it's never hic-upped once. It's relatively heavy and absorbs recoil without a problem. Good ergonomics. The only thing against it I ever have had is a horrible trigger out of the box which I remedied myself since mine is a range gun only.

I own a 75 B, that I really like as someone said earlier they’re kinda like Lay’s potato chips you can’t own just one
Very reliable (I’ve had exactly ONE FTE since I’ve had mine) I just wouldn’t recommend the SA only because the regular 75, or 75 B gives you a second strike capability and the option of carrying condition one or DA

Could someone explain to me the SA, DA, DA/SA options on the CZ75? I'm confused. Why would you choose one over another? Thanks.

SA-DA- DA/SA Questions

As far as I know CZ doesn’t make a DAO pistol, They make DA/SAs W/ Decockers (can’t be carried in cond.1)
They make DA/SAs W/ manual safeties that can be carried in condition 1 or can be carried manually decocked w/ the safety of (DA trigger pull on the first shot).
And the make SAO that, like a 1911, can only be carried in condition 1 ( I mean you could carry it w/ the hammer down but you’d have to cock it before you fire it)

IMO the DA/SA is the best choice because it will do every thing the other two will do except mechanically decock

CZ has some DAO pistols, but they're rare to come by.

the SA is great for sport shooting... bigger ambi safeties and some like the trigger and trigger pull on them.

for service i would choose the SA/DA with a decocker...

for sport i would choose any SA model.

I bought a 75B last May to get a 9mm Luger to lower
cost for a range session, and cut back on .45 ACP - I also
shooot a full size 1911 and S&W 625 (.45 ACP ). Since I
got it as a range gun, and it has a rep. for reliability I
got the packing goo off it with an initial cleaning & lube
then just shot it. After 680 rds after several range
sessions and not one FTF or FTE I sez to myself, hey
what the heck let's clean it. Did I mention it's also
silly accurate? Anyway, it field strips & re-assembels
quite easy with no bushing or llink like the 1911, great
service pistol. Mine is blued - a good deep black finish
- mine left the factory Jan '08

Sights - three white dot sights are tall enough to pick up
visually, and are mounted in a full length integrral
serrated rib which isn't visible in a side view if you are
sijmply looking at the various models on the CZUSA
web site. Good ergos for my hands, the backstrap of the
grip/frame is curved for the natural shape of the palm

I like the standard 75B with it's DA/SA options & the
frame mounted thumb safety, although I wish the thumb
safety was a bit larger/longer similiar in shape to the
1911 thumb safety, still it has the same movement ON/OFF
as a 1911 which my old school lizard brain is pretty much
wired into, so I don't know why anyone would go with the SA
Only model but different strokes I guess.

Trigger PUll, DA isn't as long a stroke when starting from
the proper position, i.e. the hammer is at the safety or
quarter cock position, it lessens the DA Trigger Length of
Pull which I would estimate to be less than an N-frame or
L-frame S&W DA revolver. THe SA trigger pull has smoother
now with over 1100 rds, but it does have more of a length
to reset the trigger than a 1911, but what pistol doesn't?

Customer Service at CZUSA is good from what I've read,
and one of the Top International competitors with a
CZ, Angus H. runs Ghost Holsters, a CZ Custom shop where
you can buy about any replacement CZ part, or
custom parts, Wolf spring sets, as well as custom work
if you opt for those mods.

Mine was $509, Great value for the quality, design
and performance. My shooting buddy has a Glock 19
and after shooting it he was thinking of getting one
asked about one at a gun store - guy behind the counter
said oh everybody is asking about those and they're getting
hard to find. CZ had a bit of a price increase over the
summer. FWIW.

My .02

Yes, your Beretta will be consigned to the back of the safe or sold soon after you get a Cz75.

You have been warned.

Thanks.

Everything I've read about carrying condition 1 is about 1911s. Is the CZ designed for it? Is it just as safe (same safety mechanism)?

And the make SAO that, like a 1911, can only be carried in condition 1

Technically it can be carried in condition 3 as well right? (If speed and two handed operation weren't concerns, of course.)

By condition 1 I mean round in the chamber, hammer cocked safety on, Like burning squirrels said there is no grip safety on a CZ but they are quality weapons and I would trust them in cond 1 at any time. My personal preference is for DA carry because I have one less thing to worry about if I ever have to shoot

Yes, I got jumped while carrying condition three once I was very luck the guy took off as soon as he saw the gun. If he hadn’t I wouldn’t have had time to chamber a round as far as I’m concerned condition 3 doesn’t exist

IMO, chances are in a self defense situation, pulling the gun out with one hand and going BANG near the hip is a very probable scenario. to me it would just seem easier to just pull a heavy DA trigger and go bang. but that's moving into the realm of personal preference, not a judgement of a CZ.

when you get a CZ i suspect you'll be very pleased with it - it is definitely a well made firearm.

I totally agree. If you have to rack the slide you may be already dead. I was talking to a buddy of mine yesterday who is a big Glock fan. We talked about the Buress ND and he said, "that's why I never carry a Glock with a round chambered." What? I asked him if he carries it hostered and he said he did. I proceeded to nicely tell him how stupid that was and the Glock was perfectly safe loaded in a holster. Duh.

besides, think about your weak hand - God forbid you're pulling your wife, mother, or child out of the way. your weak hand may not always be free. likewise, your strong hand may also not be free. when i practice CCW draw, i do both strong and weak hand draw and shoot. one handed slide rack (with snap caps) and one handed reloads (with snap caps). what if the first guy stabs you or smacks you with a bat in one arm?

I only know of one production sidearm with a geegaw specifically hung on to the slide for one handed slide racking, and that's the CZ-100, with the decidedly unfriendly trigger.
