Okay, this is not meant to be political, please don't get it locked for me guys.

In the September '08 American Rifleman (just got it today) there is a piece in there that has a blurb on 10 policies that Obama intends to implement if he gets the presidency, and has 6 tear out cards to give to other gun owners with a number on the back for a free introductory NRA membership, the 10 policies read as follows:

1. Ban use of firearms for home self-defense.
2. Pass Federal laws eliminating your Right-to Carry.
3. Ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.
4. Close down 90% of the gun shops in America.
5. Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.
6. Increase federal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent.l
7. Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime.
8. Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.
9. Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm.
10. Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment.

While I don't doubt that Obama wants all of that, I wonder about the tactics of the NRA on this. They don't elaborate on the fact that Obama, himself, cannot do all that and even if he tried, he still would not succeed with maybe more than 2 of those. I realize that it's the individual citizens responsibility to understand how their government passes laws, and so on and so forth, but just handing these cards out to people that are none the wiser seems like a shady tactic that the left would employ (keep them in the dark to achieve our goal) am I wrong?

Our side is often just as bad as the other side when it comes to scare tactics. It's just the way the game is played.

Obama has been trying to make pro-2a noises lately. I don't believe any of it, but it is an example of how much of a third-rail gun-control has become for the Dems. Whatever Obama's personal beliefs are concerning firearms, I'll bet you'll see him in hunters garb toting a shotgun at some point before election time.
