Quick Question on Holster Rig

Maybe a pocket knife or a small belt knife. Ever tried skinning a small critter with a huge knife? Pretty impractical.

Right, I do not see a whale of a lot of need for a big Bowie knife, but you gotta have a Case knife or a Barlow knife.

Is the sword an antique or a replica? I have an antique that was dated to 1800 and made by a very well known blade smith in Japan.

You know with that fancy gun rig, you also need a big knife with matching sheath to go with it. What gunslinger doesn't also carry a big knife?

I carried a Bowie knife on my Cowboy rig, for a while. It was heavy, in the way and impossible to sit down. I changed it for a more practical, skinning knife.

My point exactly, the sword I have was meant for one thing, killing folks. From the look of the edge it's done just that.

I carry several different types, light Walmart $5 one for cutting steaks, to a Benchmade I found in my old truck. My favorite was a Shrade that I carried everyday for years, until it fell off a wood Skiff with a 6 hp motor, 5 miles off the Santa Cruz shore, Big Swells, long story… I lived

Top my older ASM, lower a newer Pietta... both nice shooters but keep my loads respectable.

I think that Pietta looks familiar. Although, there's something different about it.

Whatcha gonna do when yer sixguns run dry??? Bowies are fighting knives, not for skinning game. That said, I can manage a deer pretty easily with an 8-10" blade.

A tanto would be more appropriate. Cold Steel and CRKT have some nice ones.

I have a Cold Steel Tanto. It might make an ok fighting knife but it's about useless for anything else.



If I was going to carry a BBQ knife I might use this one.

There's an Opinel for most any use..... almost old west period correct. I love mine. Never without one.
