With the gun going for over $700.....

When I opted for the trade of the R1 I kept the R51 mags. I might be able to get $50 a piece for them.

$50? Easily. As in, all day long. Try pricing Steyr GB mags sometime, since the R51 is --at present-- in a very similar situation.

Bueller? Bueller? They said second quarter, right?

Remember when they said it was gonna be ready last October? :neener:

I believe my response to the stated October delivery was that they did not specify the year?
2016 will be here soon enough!

Have a little pity on John Pedersen. He had to come up with a pocket pistol to keep his bosses happy and the other John had used up all the good ideas. Pedersen didn't choose that two piece breechblock because he thought it was a great idea but because that other John had patented the idea of a breechblock in one piece with the slide. The same reason a Mr. Searle had to play games with the breechblock on his Savage pistols, and S&W bought the Clement patents.

:scrutiny:

There's advantages to both systems, and the only certain disadvantage of the Pedersen action is that Remington hasn't thus far been able to pull it off in the modern era...which can also be said for their bolt rifles, pump shotguns...<deep breath> autoloaders, 1911 products for a good while, lever guns to this day, corporate acquisitions, corporate strategy, marketing strategies, firearms finishes, firearms materials, product support, product development, product deployment, and communication with the marketplace.

Remington has had a long history of building quality guns over the years, and hopefully the revised R51 will prove to be another success. I own an original Model 51 and although it's pushing 90 years old, I still enjoy taking to the range now an then. Mechanically it is still flawless. Here's hoping.
