FN FNS-9. Wife bough an FNS-40 and now I just have to have the 9. Bud's has them for $464-$469 Right now.

CZ p-09

Cocked and locked or decocker your choice. Super Accurate, reliable and under 5 bills. The P-07 is a more compact version....

Locally found a worked up M&P9 estimated round count is 1500. He's asking $650 with the following:

SSS ESP magwell/base pads, Apex FSS, Warren tactical Sevigny sights, FL arms extended mag release, bladetech doh holster, and 4 mags. He says he has almost a grand into it.

Not exactly what I'm looking for but I bet it shoots great. What do you all think? Still going to LGS today after work.

Sounds like someone's selling off their complete match rig. Sounds like a pretty nice setup for USPSA Production class.

Check it out in person if you can, but tuned matched guns and accessories are often a bargain for what they are. As far as round count, 1500 rounds isn't much. For a match shooter's gun, that could easily represent less than 2 months of use.

+1 to the RIA 1911 9mm Tactical. IMHO the RIA Tacticals and Witness Elite Match pistols are about the best bang/buck guns out there. RIA customer service and support will totally blow away what you can get with the Witness pistols.

But any of the full size 9mm pistols will make great range guns. I shoot my RIA and M&P by far the most and I've one model or another of about all the mentioned pistols other than the Rugers -- never really warmed up to their full sized centerfire pistols.

I would say go 9mm over 40 if its a range gun

If you aren't in a rush, I would hold out for the Beretta M9A3

the m&p 9 can also be found for a good price and is a great range gun

Personally, my favorite 9mm range gun is my glock 17c

So it's down to a couple options. Either a G17 or a CZ variant. I can't get a hold of a CZ so I'd have to order it to buy it. The G17 my dad owns and I have a G20 I shoot regularly.

Glock has the added bonus of someday owning a Sub2k in same caliber for double fun. What's going against it is that, from reading, it's not as accurate a platform.

CZ is supposed to fit like a glove and point well plus it's more mechanically accurate. Can't try it on without buying it.

Unless I buy a clone the glock is cheaper too. On sale at LGS for 499.
