Is charging the case with powder a manual operation?

No, the charging is done automatically when there is a case present. A drop tube that goes into or over the case mouth (several are included to cover all diameters) pushes up on the measure and a lever rotates the drum to drop the charge.

Here are the only tweaks I made to mine. The bin that catches loaded rounds (removed for the pic) sat a little too far to the left for me so I ground away a little more clearance on the plate that was in the way. Also I made a wooden block to keep small bullets from rolling out of the pan into the gap behind the bins. Hopefully you can tell what I mean from the picture. Sorry for the loose powder, I don't clean it often.

The primer loader was included with my press. I'll load some primers into strips and take a few pictures in the next day or two.

Nice mods to your press Griz. :)

WmCC: I agree with your cost comparison. I did the same comparison and I was far ahead money wise with the Pro2000 over a 550 or 650.

The only thing we miss out on with the Pro2000 is a case feeder. I was lucky enough to get one from the factory, it's called my left hand.

I wish you all would stop talking about the Pro 2000 already. I have heard enough. The more I hear the more I want one and I broke right now.:D

Piggyback II

I used PiggyBack II for the last 5 years just before I moved to Canada.

RCBS customer service was superb... They sent me many parts free of charge by mail.

Now I sold everything and moved to Alberta. I'm building my bench now.

I wanted to by Pro2000, but noticed that it was manual index... I checked Piggyback 3 and 4, which are also manual indexed...

I hated that... Because they've treated me so well wo many years, I do not want to move to another brand (Dillon wispering in my ear big time). Now I'm looking around to buy a PiggyBack II or old AmmoMaster Progressive reloader...

I wonder why RCBS turned into manual indexing only...

I am a die hard blue guy , but not afraid to try other things last year I picked up a rock chucker with a piggyback II auto indexing and after a couple motnths of playing with it and having problem with the powder mesures release bar { the thing that makes the powder dump when there is a case there} it also had a similar primer feeding system as the dillon and didnt work well. The fine folks at rcbs were helpful on the phone but it was hard dealing with these problems and trying to load on 2 very diff machines. The pro-2000 looks totaly different tho and Im very interested in trying one doubt I will change presses. I love my 550, 5years and over a 100,000 rnds and the only thing that has broke was a small spring that cost .27 at the harware store go aluminum. It doesnt take but a min to change calibers if its the same size primer but add 1-2 min if changing primer size.As far as the primer pick up tubes easy to use takes less then a min to fill 100 in tube and I have never had a primer exploding and taking out the hole tube or heard first hand of it could this possibly be the " BIGFOOT" of reloading. Those are some great pics you have hope one of my shooting buddy buys one so I can try it out.
