Real Reason for 380 over a 32 cal.?

I have a seecamp 32 that is very reliable and tiny. There a couple of things about it I wish were different. First off it has a smooth top slide with no sights so your target needs to be up close and personal or you might miss. The second thing is alot of the rounds keyhole so the bullets are tumbling out of the barrel. The tumbling probably doesn't help accuracy any. So a couple of weeks ago I got a ruger lcp custom in 380. The lcp is almost as small in pocket, has decent sights, it's way more accurate and it shoots a more powerful round. I will be carrying the ruger. That's my reason to switch to 380.

So, .32 was banned from import, while .380 was blessed.

I'm fairly certain no specific caliber has ever been "banned from import," though maybe most of the guns chambered for it were. More likely American gun companies saw there was money to made in convincing their customers to ignore all the cheap foreign guns they could get easily and instead buy some bigger "All-American" caliber. I've concluded (in a related vein) there's no other explanation for why something like the .40 S&W caught on. Gun buyers are susceptible to being stampeded by fads, just like everyone else. if the .32 Auto was good enough for James Bond it's probably good enough for you or me. ;)
