This was pulled off fresh from the E.Nashville list-serve:

<<10-30, 11:30pm, Woodland at S 15th,A female neighbor and a friend were
walking on Woodland from S 14th toward their car. Two male/blacks came
from across the street, one got in front of them one got behind. They
had pistols and said empty your pockets or give me your money. The victims
complied, the robbers fled toward 16th. one was slender, wearing a hoodie, held semi auto pistol in his left
hand. The other was stocky, both were under 6',unsure about type of
pistol.>>

So whaddyagonnado?

if you didn't see them comming then there is nothing you can do. admit to yourself that you got caught slipping and hope they don't kill you. you could always fight and hope they either A. don't have bullets in those guns. B. they are very very lousy shot's. C. shoot you in a non vital area. i thik the chances of you successfully engaging both of the bad guys and coming out un scathed is nill to say the least.

Kinda hard to tell when the BG's produced their guns, but If there was any kind of "out" available such as a house to go ring the bell at or something similar that would have been the first choice, after that, bad situation and all I probably would have drawn and fired as soon as it looked like they were coming for me with guns drawn. Hopefully the guy not getting shot at would have thought better of their plan and gotten the hell out. Would have tried to either shield the wife or push her toward cover the best I could.

Hindsight is 20/20, and that is what I think I would have done without the chance to think and head-game it for a day. Hopefully I would have been on the ball enough to recognize the threat before it reached critical mass.

Do you know something we do not? If I drew down on a black man who happened to be headed in my direction, I would have been locked up years ago.

Bibedo seems to post on every thread I'm on. He is at least consistent in his wrong-headedness.
As I said elsewhere, whatever he says, do the opposite and you'll probably be OK.

Here, two black guys on a semi-deserted street at night crossing over in my direction would have put me at high alert. I probably would have tried to cross back over, avoiding them or at least sniffing out if they were truly following me versus merely going in my direction. Or I would have found some well-lit place to make for, probably at top speed. If they ran after me I would have the gun at low ready in front of me. I would have tried very hard not to let one in front and one behind.

Evasion is the best way to handle a fight. Two guys crossing from one side of the street to my side i would cross back over. If they continued to follow me I would get out of the area as fast as i could.

Yep, two guys crossing the street would get my attention. If I crossed back in the opp direction and they mirrored it I would reverse course.

Don't worry about Bib. If he follows his own advice he'll be in jail.

I've probably just walked away from more confrontations (after pulling a gun or kicking some ass) than you've ever even read-about.
That makes you one bright, knowledgeable fella in my book. I'll be sure to pay attention to your advice & tactics. Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to your posts!

Tell us about the time you took out that gang of thieves that tried to rip off the Nakatomi vault in LA! I love that story!

This happened to me in the past except there were 4 of them without weapons, not 2 with one weapon. They leave no doubt what their intentions are far in advance of any attempt at encirclement. Being confronted by threatening strangers in the dark puts me in fear for my safety. I would not allow myself to be encircled, weapon or not.

What do I do? One has a gun in hand as they approach? A 180° spin as soon as possible pulling from my crossdraw holster as I take the first step in the opposite direction. They won't see the draw. The rest is up to them but we all know walking away isn't going to be allowed.

Sounds like they was trapped and nothing to do but give up the goods. But since you say black guys like that matters you might wana be sure your not reflecting those differences on the street. When you think like that others can sense it and that might have got you singled out. You may have glanced at them with "black guy" in your mind and they seen it. If you are surrounded do what your told and wait for them to make the first mistake no matter what they look like. The most important thing to do is always be aware of whats going on around you. I once thought for sure I was going to get jumped or robbed but when I smiled at the guy he kinda changed direction. Body language can get you in and out of trouble.
