Recent experience with Brownells?

Sorry, I have no sympathy for Brownells, Bud's or any other online retailer putting the responsibility of "insurance" on the buyer. Buyers deserve to get the item they paid for in the same condition as advertised. "Insurance" protects the seller from a claim for loss, damage or theft. If the buyer never receives the item, he's going to contact his credit card company anyway (and do a chargeback if the seller refuses a full refund).

My last order from Brownells included some Parkerizing solution, 1911 magwell, and some other parts. The box looked like it had been kicked around a warehouse or truck for a few days. The solution wasn't leaking, and the packaging for the magwell had a tear in it. When I called Brownells they offered to replace the items for bad shipping, and I didn't get the insurance. None of the items were damaged, just the packaging. So I didn't take up the replacement offer. That is quite good customer service as far as I am concerned.

I just placed an order late yesterday. We will see! I've bought a ton of stuff from them over the years with no complaints.

I've had, if anything, better service from Brownells lately, than in decades past. Only bugbear is shipping, out of their control. But, I'm not the sort to get all in a tizzy over a day or two delay once things are shipped.

I've had good luck with both Brownells and Midway. Can't say the same about USPS lately. One order shipped Nov 27th arrived Dec 24th, another shipped Dec 9th still in transit.

I have been dealing with Brownells for 50 years and have never had any problems. Their shipping slowed down a little with the move to Grennell, probably training new people, but it is back to normal now. I use their Edge program which gives you free second day shipping for $50.00 per year. Doesn’t take many orders to make that pay!

On numerous occasions, I've had signature required packages left on my doorstep by various carriers. It really means nothing.
A couple weeks ago I got a package via USPS that I knew I had to sign for. The mail man (my regular guy) did hand it directly to me, but when I mentioned to him that I needed to sign for it he said, "No I signed for it. We don't let you sign because of Covid". Kind of defeats the purpose of signature required.

Regarding the OP, I've ordered from Brownells probably a dozen times in the past year. Got free shipping (coupon code) many of those times. Sometimes stuff arrived late, but they shipped it quickly, so I can't blame them (check your USPS tracking info). I've ordered from Midway about 4 times in the past year. I got free shipping three of those times IIRC. Again, they shipped very quickly and stuff did take slightly longer to arrive because of USPS.

I ordered two red dot optics from a vendor on Ebay early in December. I bought one and then three days later ordered a second. The vendor shipped them both very quickly via USPS, shipped three days apart (I checked the tracking numbers). One package took 10 days to arrive. The other took 29 days! They took identical routes.

One other thing I have noticed lately is that Midway has been significantly lower than Brownells on what I happen to be buying. I always shop identical items on both of them and buy from either based on availability and price.

Price differences of 20% less at Midway have been increasingly common. I have a small discount with Brownells too and that doesn’t even make much difference.

Maybe I’m just hitting Midway’s sales better by chance.

The order that I placed on line Friday night arrived yesterday. (Thursday) They sent me Emails confirming that they received the order, that the order had shipped and that the order had arrived. I can't complain about that.

Had my first Brownells experience this week. Ordered a Midwest Industries Handguard on Saturday, Received today. No damage, quick processing and timely delivery. Handguard exactly what I wanted. Would do business with again!

My order was delivered timely; however, three box holding shot were damaged and leaking - thanks Fedex. They look like they were either crushed or tossed like a medicine ball. We'll see how the claims process works. For an extra $3, you can buy full protection and full replacement; didn't see that or I would have. We'll see what happens in the next 30 days.
