Sorry, I have no sympathy for Brownells, Bud's or any other online retailer putting the responsibility of "insurance" on the buyer. Buyers deserve to get the item they paid for in the same condition as advertised. "Insurance" protects the seller from a claim for loss, damage or theft. If the buyer never receives the item, he's going to contact his credit card company anyway (and do a chargeback if the seller refuses a full refund).
My last order from Brownells included some Parkerizing solution, 1911 magwell, and some other parts. The box looked like it had been kicked around a warehouse or truck for a few days. The solution wasn't leaking, and the packaging for the magwell had a tear in it. When I called Brownells they offered to replace the items for bad shipping, and I didn't get the insurance. None of the items were damaged, just the packaging. So I didn't take up the replacement offer. That is quite good customer service as far as I am concerned.
