Picked up the Remington Super Cell recoil pad for my 700 BDL. On the packaging it specifically says for Rem 700 ADL/BDL with wood stocks. Got it home, unscrewed the two screws in the butt end of the stock, open up the recoil pad, and its no where near close to the same size as the stock. Just the middle part of the hard plastic butt end came out, there are 2 more screws which I figured released the outer ring of hard black plastic. I took those out, but it also appears to be held on by glue or epoxy since it would not budge.
Is the supercell supposed to fit inside the "outer ring" or completely over it? I've searched on line with no sucess to even find a picture of a Rem 700 BDL with one of these supercell recoil pads installed to compare. The pad is not long enough to go from the top to the bottom of the stock. I had to get out the door pretty quick for work, so i couldnt take any measurements. I plan to look at it some more when I get home tonight.
the pictures of all other recoil pads i've found make it look like the pad is the same size as the end of the stock and this simply isnt the case. I bought my 700 brand new in December so it is not an older one as I have read these pads do not fit the older models. I really hope I'm missing something, because you would think Remington would be able to make a pad to fit their own rifle especially since they market it directly for a 700 ADL/BDL wood stock which I have. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks
