So the fiance and I are watching Red Dawn. I had no clue this was her first time. A line comes up about the 4473 and my jaw just dropped. She chuckled and said "What is it now?" (I have a tendency to rant during gun movies. I'm sure I'm the only on afflicted by this trait among my High Road Brethren ).
So the invading CO tells his subordinate to go to the gun stores, grab the 4473s and check them against the addresses to see who's armed and will put up a resistance. I'm immediately flabbergasted because this is a very pro gun argument and likely only someone who's intimately familiar with firearms would inject a sentiment such as that in a film. I explained to her why and she understood perfectly.
I then Google a bit to try and find out about the Writers and Director. I had no idea who Kevin Reynolds and John Milius were even though I've seen several of their films. I read more about John Milius and now it all makes perfect sense. I am a new fan of Mr. Milius.
Great movie, awesome line, good sentiment, excellent thought process.
