red dot for 9mm loads

I just did a search and saw that a number of members use or have used Red dot in there 9mm loads. I am using the Lyman #49 and also a older Speer manual that only have red dot recipes in cast. Anyone care to share some 9mm loads for jacketed 9's?

I'm shooting a Ruger SR9, would load mainly 115fmj's. I no longer load for shotgun and have plenty of RD left.

I couldn't get it to work in my Glock 17 unless I reduced the load to the point where the gun wouldn't cycle but if your gun will cycle with a light load it should be OK. I would give it a try if I were you.

I've used a load of 4.2grs of Red Dot behind a 115gr jacketed bullet. The Velcocity from a Beretta 92 was 1,132 fps average.

2001 and 2003 says 4.5 red dot under a 115 FMJ. I'd reduce 10% to start of course.

I use Bullseye with 115 gr FMJ and get excellent results.

4.0 and 124 jacketed has worked well for me OAL with the Flat Points is 1.080. With JHP My OAL was 1.15 ...I think These are NOT intended as heavy loads but watch your seating depth. Several data sources show 4.5 grains of Red Dot as max with 124/125s. Listed OAL length varies with bullet and ogive. Some old sources went higher in charge weight but 4.5 is a common max....both for 124 gr and 115.

My practice loads are 4.0gr. of Red Dot with a 115gr. plated bullet. Good accuracy, mild recoil, but still functions well in a Glock.

RDot is a low flash and clean powder is it's only advantage in 9mm. I load cast slugs in 4 different chamberings w/it.
