Can anyone tell me if the the Redding sizing die in the 30 Carbine 3-die set (mfg # 80180) has a carbide sizing ring? None of the retailer's descriptions say and neither does Redding's site.
Thanks

Can't answer for Redding. RCBS has the M1 Carbine sizing dies with and with out carbide rings. Hornady has a carbide ring. The Lee come with 2 carbide rings to better accommodate the M1 Carbine's taper.
I have measured cases after sizing with each of the mentioned dies. The Lee sizing die is the only one that actually matched the SAMMI specs for this cartridge's taper.

I looked in my 2017 Redding Catalog and the only Carbide dies listed are pistol dies and sell for well over $100. The .30 Carbine is listed but I'm sure that it isn't carbide the way the manual is set up! Your three die set (80180) is listed at $78.55 which indicates price wise that it isn't Carbide.

I cannot specifically say if Redding offers a carbide 30 Carbine die.

Even so, most of the die manufacturers who make carbide 30 carbine sizer dies still recommend using lubricant when sizing cases. This is due to the tapered walls of the case. (30 Carbine is a straight walled case, just not a parallel walled case)

That said, I saved the cash and bought a steel 30 Carbine sizer die since I needed to use lubricant anyway.

Many folks do not use lubricant with their carbide 30 Carbine sizer dies.

Actually, the .30Carbine is a tapered case, with the neck section being parallel similar to the 9mmParabellem.
I use regular case lube with the .30Carbine in Lee carbide dies. Likewise, I use furniture wax lightly sprayed in a empty cut off powder container and tumble the cases to lightly coat for use in Lee 9mm Carbide dies. Greatly reduces sizing effort.
