Some of you who know me know I make a living wheeling and dealing in Furniture.

Much of my life ive made a decent living from distressing furniture then reselling it.

This is my cap and ball revolver distressing attempt on a 2019 pietta I had laying in the gun cabinent.

I added treso nipples and widened the loading fort for conical projectiles. Also added uberti rammer and honed internals.

I also purchased a stock to go with this gun as it really is a tack driver... I'm sure even more so with a stock

Hate it? Love it? Hate me? Fire away!

I like it. Right side grip in particular looks very legit. Couple thoughts
  1. If you're going through the trouble of "distressing" it you should remove the Pietta billboards on the barrel IMO
  2. I'd get my hands muddy or greasy with black paint and handle the grips a bit. My originals and most I've seen have darker-looking wood rather than the red-stained, lighter-wood section where furniture laquer might rub off.
  3. The original clearance on the barrel assembly for conical bullets is less rounded and more pointy at the front
Overall nice job IMO

Thanks for the kind words.
I had around 2 hours to kill so this was a fun little project.

In relation to the loading port, I only had a small Campbell's soup can looking dremel attachment. The rest were oversized. I do plan on opening it up a little more once I run by lowes and get more dremel attachments.

Also will try my hand at defarbing one day

I love the grease/dirt idea on the grips I think I'll do exactly that. My initial idea was that
I have around 15 different "proprietary" touch up pens/paint I use in the industry and I thought about refinishing some bare spots on the grips with a perfect brown/ burnt cherry /walnut mix

It looks a great deal like an original I have except for the grips. The grips on the Remington look much more authentic, a uniform dark brown.

I like it. Looks sharp to me.

I have done a good handful of ASM revolvers and own half a dozen myself. I would be proud to do your revolvers.

ASM has a bad name around the internet. While the action of piettas and Ubertis are Leaps and bounds above my ASM's. I still prefer ASM over pietta or uberti.

The ASM I have just feel right. They are perfectly balanced and point like no other.
When cutting the crown on my revolver barrels I noticed the ASM barrel was Noticably harder to cut then my piettas.

My ASM pistols are all from the early 80's with the one exception from the "newest kid on the block" born in 1986.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Mixed parts from two different makers. You should send it to me for disposal. ;)

Consider express bluing it. Get it from Brownells and instructions are on the bottle. Polish it and follow the instructoins. All you need is a pan big enough to immerse it in boiling water but Ha! Last week, I just got the last big baking pan from the thrift store. You'll also need to card it.
