So, I am curious as to what options I have as far as mounting a scope and other accessories on a standard carry handle Pre-ban Bushmaster? I have read a lot about mounting a scope on the top of the carry handle but have got conflicting stories as to whether this is good or not. Some people say it works and others says that it does not. If someone more familiar with them could explain then it would be most appreciated.

You should be able to mount a rail on your carry handle, it should have a small hole which allows a screw to hold a rail to the top of the carry handle. On the rail you're able to mount optics.

You'll probably want a cheek pad to get consistent eye relief and stock weld, but other then that it works just fine.

Got an ACOG and old Colt Sporter 3x on a couple of mine, both mounted on the handle and they work just fine.
Downloaded Remington's free Shoot software and have been playing with scope heights and the effect on bullet trajectory, and if you zero at 100 yards seem to be OK. If you try to zero @ 25 yards with the scope height you're going to have with a handle mounted scope, you're going to get a pretty wild bullet trajectory.

Didn't have a choice with my old Colt SP1 as it has a fixed handle, and back when I bought it and the Colt scope all the fancy mounts now available weren't around. When I got my RRA/ACOG, it had a removable handle, but I went ahead and put the ACOG on the handle so it and the old SP1 would match up AFA scope height.

Might visit this site and download the free Shoot software? Sometimes a bullet trajectory graph is worth 10,000 words (and a lot of ‘Net advice)!
