Hi Guys! I just acquired an AR-15 and I will be reloading for the same.
Just wondered if anyone had some pet loads mainly as far as the rifles flawless functioning is concerned?
Thanks, Zeke

I like Accurate 2230 with 55 grain bullets in my ARs. Just about any flavor 55 grain bullet worked fine. Follow Accurate Powders load information.

When I shot Service Rifle, I use 69 grain HPBT Seirras with Varget.

All rounds loaded to fit the magazine.

24.5 - 26 grains of IMR4895 has been my favorite for many years. It's hard to beat powder that was specifically designed for military type rifles.

I am using Accurate 2460 even though it is not the best. One makes do. Loading 25gr behind 55gr FMJ bullets with good results.

I use Varget or IMR 4320 with projectiles over 62 grains and H-335 for the lighter side. The 55 grain H-335 load is somewhere around 25.5 grains.

I use Alliant Reloader 7, along with a 52grn-69 grn. bullet just use the Alliant reloading info to assist you. I've got moa with every bullet once I settled down on the correct amount of powder.

26gr. WC844 w/55gr. and 25gr.WC844 w/62gr. is what I load and it works great in all my AR's. To duplicate the military load use 28.5gr. WC844 w/55gr. and 26.1 WC844 with 62gr. that load is from the Army technical manual for small arms....publication TM 43-0001-27. They say that WC844 is equivalent to H335 and from my experience, I agree. I believe the military loading is more than you need for recreational shooting. You could probably go even lower but that would depend on you and your rifle. Good Luck and enjoy yourself.

Thanks for the replies Guys, now all I have to find are Dies, Bullets and brass.
At a Gun Show this past weekend the .223 stuff was going for $15.00 a box.
On line the .223 Dies are for the most part unavailable.

Thanks for that info. Didn't realize that 5.56 used that much powder.

Hmmm never loaded wc844 over 27.4gr

May have ta try the 28+ and see how it goes....

I use the same 24.8 grain load of WC-844 as my H-335 load and get the same results.
Ive always Like the 3000fps loads...

I may have to re-try the Lower Loads again since my HP Bullets are so much Better than the FMJ-BT

Thanks again for the info.... always good ta LEARN more.....

GOOD LUCK finding bullets.

223/5.56 projectiles are very hard to find.
And powder is is just as bad.

My pet load is 26 gr of Varget under an Armscor 55 gr FMJBT (Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail)

BIMART here in OR has 55gr pills and some other weights biweekly. Its been that way for a month now.

If you can prepay the $16 per 100, and whatever shipping option you prefer ( $6 ships 500- the most I can buy at one time- without a problem in a small flat rate, with the boxes broken down) I'd be happy to help you out. I'm there daily, so I never miss them.

Welcome to a fun addiction- reloading for the AR :D

PS- they also sell reloading manuals, I'd be happy to pick one up for you.

I always liked the most accurate load. I never really cared about velocity.
