anybody running one of these easyload devices http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=305257&page=1

on an 1100 / 11-87 that isn't an all set up for tactical stuff. I found out about them today and thought it would be kind of nice to not have to mess with the button. (not that the button is the end of the world)

If you have one what are your thoughts on putting one on a regular bird / casual hand-thrown-pigeons 1100? It could be polished to a mirror and fit the gun better I suppose.

I wouldn't.
It sticks out and gives the action release a hair trigger.
A friend took mine hunting because nothing else was avaiable and it was awkward to deal with.

Oh... no. I thought it replaced the loading gate as well, and I thought the action release would then, somehow be operated by the new gate alone. No, this is not really an improvement IMHO. I've never actually thought loading the 1100 was cumbersome.

I had one on my 3gun 1100 that i just sold. I used that set up for about 6 months and about 6 matches.

Generally speaking it is not to difficult to install, but there are a couple of feature you may need to fit.

Fitting is needed so the bolt will release when it is supposed to. This may take several tries.

The length may need to be cut down. Many, including me, shorten the easyloader. The extra length creates a longer moment arm and may close the bolt on empty due the extra length of the easyloader causing a bounce. Plus the longer easyloaders may trap your thumb and trap shells between the easyloader and the lifter.

The roll pins supplied with the easy loader can sometimes seize up during installation to due tight tolerance. The roll pins often break during use. So stock up on pins from your local hardware store. They are a common size.

With practice and regular maintenance the easyloader does help loading for things like 3gun, but i don't see the need for it in other uses.

It can be a PITA to install and can be a PITA to maintain. Some are lucky and it works first try. Mine needed little fitting and a cut down. It worked flawless for months, then the pin broke.

Unless you are willing to deal with all of the headaches i would not install it. I would get the competition master lifter with the bigger button from Brownells.

Had one on my 1100 for one outing to shoot, then I removed it. Bought a new trigger group (old on was very worn) and it runs fine now.

Those are designed to make it easier to load quickly. I have one on my 1100 for 3-gun. While loading a stock 1100 is not "cumbersome", the Easyloader does move the shells in a little faster, and fast loading is important in 3-gun.

To prevent trapping your thumb, it is possible to remove some metal from the Easyloader and that is part of the fitting process, although mine still has all its metal, except for what was removed to get the release correct.
