I don't know what they stand for, but the BDL has a drop floorplate, while the ADL has a blind magazine. You can drop rounds out of a BDL, but must work the action on the ADL to unload. I love my ADL so far.
I've heard BDL's referred to as "B-Grade Deluxe" but I don't know of any sources for this. I have to call Remington to get more info on the used ADL I just bought so I'll see if they have anything to say about what ADL stands for.
I always took it that it stood for Model A DeLuxe and Model B DeLuxe. But really, it is just advertising. I figure the reason Remingtons have had rifle model numbers starting with 7 since 1940 was that they knew they were competing with the Winchester Model 70. Likewise Ruger 77.
