Remington is closing its iconic plant and moving its operation to Georgia. I've been to that plant several times.

You meant Rem Arms LLC is closing the Ilion facility. Remington died in 2020. When you only have ~200 employees it hard to pay the bills on a 1 million square foot facility. NY state government didn't make them feel welcome either. It's sad that a place with that much history is going to go away, but that writing was on the wall since at least 2018 if not earlier.

I got a copy overnight (I’m in Germany) of a letter that my friend who works at the plant got from Remington. Job terminated permanently. No offer of transfer. My uncle retired from there, during WW2 my grandparents worked at the plant. It will really kill the City of Ilion.

No doubt the town in GA that is getting it put up a hefty package of tax rebates and/ or free land to welcome the new jobs.

Typical of NYS to spite themselves over their gun policies to lose the company.

The old Remington shafted Huntsville pretty good in the process of going under. It will be interesting to see if Rem Arms LLC shafts LaGrange Georgia or actually becomes a profitable company.

For all those that say they should leave NY because of the government, you have a point. But New Yorkers need jobs too. I have attached a copy of the letter with personal stuff removed. The plant is old and site cleanup might cost a fortune. But it was an old plant and not the most efficient.

I won't miss them. I used to be a huge fan. I still have a 870 and 1100. Sold the junk 700BDL that never shot straight. Never again.

Sorry about your experience with the 700. I've never owned one that wouldn't shoot well. They sometimes needed a little tightening and tuning, but I was never disappointed.

Too bad its coming to Georgia. We don't really need more Yankees moving here. To make it worse, our state government gives ridiculous tax incentives to foreign companies like that moving into the state. I stopped buying Remington guns and ammo a long time ago. There are much better choices out there.
