I think I seen somewhere that the lugs are different

Nope. I can swap all top end parts between my Colt Mk IV and my R1 in any combination. I'm not inclined to break them down further to check additional compatibility just for curiosity's sake, though.

Hmmmm....

Ok....When I was considering buying one , the DEALER pulled two guns , stripped them down and SHOWED me the barrel being different. He said remington R1 was basicaly a clone , and Springfiels , kimber , etc were to spec......meaning all the parts were interchangeable ! They talked me out of it ! So , since Im by far NO authority , Im only going on what I was told/shown by Murphy's gun room in Tucson.......and they know their stuff ! The thing that sticks out in my mind was the lugs were diffrent , and the roller on the barrel was larger ???? I SAW it against a springfield "spec" 1911 ! Maybe they did change something ???

No offense but Murphy's Guns in Tucson does NOT know their stuff (or they were trying to sell you something). After doing some research the Remington R1 is interchangeable with 1911 parts. It is a true 1911 (not a clone).

I might call Murphy's guns myself and talk with them. This is exactly how false info gets started

hmmmmm...ok

Look. Im not trying to dis any model or any make. But what was SHOWN to me was what influenced me to NOT buy one. I do have my own issues with Murphys gun room , was a very good customer and they could give a hoot less. I guess I just opened my mouth and said something that seems to now be incorrect , but none the less i only posted as to my one experience:banghead:

I understand and sorry if I came across harsh to you, I meant it to Murphy's not you. I see too many gun clerks giving false information and it irks me. It is either done to sell something in particular or because of ignorance. No disrespect to you. I apologize
