I just got a Sig Sauer P220 Elite Stainless, and I'm contemplating putting black alum grips on, or wood equinox grips, in place of the rosewood that comes with the gun. Unfortunately, the GS near me doesn't have a sig w/ alum grips so I don't know how the feel in the hand. I've read that they are thiner, but not sure how thin. I recently shot a Kimber 1911, and felt those grips were thinner, but I did like them. Just wondering what everyone has to say by experience. Thanks all!

wood would be the prettiest, but has the most issues with humidity

both the aluminum and G10 grips are thinner and give more orientation index.

i have currently have checkered black aluminum grips on my 220ST and i'm looking at getting a set of the G10 (can't decide between checkered or smooth) for my 226ST

my 220ST feels a lot like a 1911 with an arched MSH

humidity is a HUGE factor for me as I live in South Florida where its always above 60% humidity year round. Do you find the aluminum makes you feel more vibration, as its metal?

Wood looks the best but will not hold up well to a lot of sweat I would go with aluminum

If you have any more pics, please post! Mine is being ordered so I wont have it for a week or two unfortunetly

I have the both the 229 Elite and 220 Elite with Aluminum grips. I also have the 229R with regular plastic grips. The aluminum grips are thinner - especially on the 220. However, I think overtime the slightly worn aluminum grips will look MUCH cooler and lets face it, they are indestrucable.

I go with Hogue black rubber grips as they reduce felt recoil and grips are more for function. I don't care how the gun looks a ccw should not be seen until it is used and pretty don't scare BG's..

+1 for the Hogue rubber grips. With the finger grooves, they provide a fantastic secure grip that is well oriented. Comfort from recoil is also a significant improvement. They are inexpensive enough that you can try them, and if you don't really like them it won't break the bank.

Hogue Extreme G-10, without a doubt. They are my absolute favorite (thus far) grips for SIGs. The checkering is grippy without be abrasive. They also reduce the decocker hump and flatten out the backstrap a bit. I shoot my P229R 9mm much better with these grips vs. OEM plastic or Hogue rubber.

Except for two revolvers and one semi-auto I have wood grips (most after market) on all of my handguns. I live in Southwest Missouri where it is very humid. I have no problem with wood grips both on my sporting handguns and my carry hanguns. Properly treated and cared for there are no issues. You DO care for the gun itself, don't you? Then take the time to care for the wood grips too.

Aluminum or any other (peuter) metal grips look cheap IM[notso]HO
