I work in a South East Asian country and made a friend who is a member of the local national guard. Anyway, he told me that regular troops and draftees get priority to use the 100 meter and 300 meter ranges at military ranges while the national guard which are the country's de facto reserve force has to settle for the "short" 25 meter and 50 meter ranges. I asked him how they maintain currency with their service rifles (either styr AUGs or M4s) to hit targets beyond 50 meters and he said that their targets are miniturised.
He then handed me one of their targets and it appears to be a representation of the upper torso of a charging enemy soldier but sized at 5" x 6.25" to simulate shooting at a full sized man at long range especially if shot at 50 meters. (I have attached a scan of the target.)
My question is......what range would the target simulate if shot at:
1) 50 meters?
2) 25 meters?
