Response from Obama

Isn't "lying hypocrite" simply another term for "politician"?

Jim

So... "enlighten" him. Put him on the defensive instead of the offensive. Tell him we are NOT giving up our AWs. Tell him he's pissing all over the constitution and our freedom of choice if he bans them. Tell him you don't care about his opinion on hunting and that you care about your right to own an AK.

Carefully worded response in order to cater to as much of the population as possible. The anti's and sheeple will be satisfied by that response. Fudd's will mostly be OK with it. He certainly doesn't care about folks on this website; he knows we're firmly on the other side and not likely to change.

Looked upon in the light of 1776, Obama could be considered just barely American.

From what I've read, Obama actually taught constitutional law at the college level. Which, considered the above-quoted truth, is quite frightening indeed.

I know.... how insane is that?

Typical of a teacher who ignores certain facts and chooses only those which further their own agenda.

Want to really make him feel the heat? Just write that you are not going to vote for him because of his position on 2A. If enough people do that, maybe the interns handling emails will put it in the report and maybe The Man will hear about it.

This guy will speak publicly about how proud he is to try to keep guns out of as many hands as possible...

Just like he speaks about the Iraq war and the position he took on that... One thing about the guy, he doesn't seem to shy away from his positions he takes.

"...how many crimes are committed with one that has been legally obtained? Are there any?"

There has been one violent crime committed with a legally obtained fully automatic arm since 1938. It was committed by a police officer. I read this in two different sources, one on weapons and one on police misconduct, though now I would be hard pressed to find them again. He was not on duty at the time and the crime had nothing to do with his career or his department, by the way.

He doesn't understand that it isn't about hunter and sportsmen's rights!
Oh, he understands. Obama, like many others, knows exactly what he's doing in wording it certain ways.
1. Obama is extremely intelligent. He knows exactly what he is doing.

2. Obama is very constitutionally literate. He taught constitutional law.

3. Obama is not prepared to allow the Constitution to get in the way of what he wants to do. He's an intellectual elite who agrees with the wisdom of the Founding Fathers when it aligns with his own personal beliefs, but when it does not, it is just a sign that we have "progressed" beyond the narrow view of 1780s America. He believes what he believes, and it does not include guns in private hands.

I'm torn on whether or not Obama is more dangerous than Hillary. Obama is more electable than Hillary, and is in some ways more dangerous because of this fact. He is also a powerful orator and can sway public opinion (a skill that no top-tier politician since Reagan has truly mastered, though Bill Clinton came close). I don't know if he has the contacts/allies/machinery to be effective once he's in.

Hillary, on the other hand, is less electable (lots of people, including some Democrats, simply hate her). She cannot speak without sounding shrill and manipulative. But she has the moves, the allies, the political infrastructure to be very effective (domestically) once she's in. She may, however, be a lightning rod for opposition.

And then there's McCain, whose slogan should be "I'm not quite as bad as the other two." The best we can hope for with him is that the NRA and other groups keep on him hard enough that he keeps his head down and mouth shut.

I cannot believe that in an election that is supposed to be about change we're looking at McCain and Hillary as the top two candidates. There's nothing more "Business as Usual" than those two. Obama is the only electable "candidate for change" out there, and his style of change is NOT what we want or need.

Mike

Don't forget that Obama also stated that he wants a federal ban on CCW, supported an Illinois ban on everything semiauto, and supports lawsuits against weapons manufacturers.

Obama has publicly said he'd like to restrict private ownership to manually cocked guns (like pump-shotguns and bolt-action rifles) and no more handguns of any kind. He knows precisely what he's talking about. He's a die-hard revisionist and a traitor to the oath he took when he went into office.

know what an assault weapon is, ie select fire...
No, that's a muh sheen gun, not an "assault" weapon

Maybe someone should tell him assault rifles were banned in the NFA act of 1934 and he's just beating a dead horse.
Ummm... no they weren't.
"The National Firearm Act of 1934 was enacted as a reaction to the behaviors of gangsters of the era. It was passed as tax legislation to discourage ownership without an outright prohibition. Keep in mind that the tax of $200 was quite a sum of money in 1934. Since gangsters were unlikely to register their NFA weapons, the government had another legal weapon to use against them. Because NFA ’34 was a tax law, enforcement fell to the Department of the Treasury. Similarity with alcohol tax law moved the enforcement to the Alcohol Tax Unit within the DOT."
At least they aren't Wikifacts!

He doesn't understand that it isn't about hunter and sportsmen's rights!

I disagree. I think that he understands perfectly...as do Charles Schumer and
Teddy Kennedy. They know exactly what it's about, and they don't like it. Anything that stands in the way of absolute power of and by the state is beyond their level of comfort.

It's not about controlling guns, and it's not really about controlling crime...and it never has been. It's about control, period.

uhhhh, no offense or anything, but is obama even reading these letters your sending. that responce sounded like a canned letter to me. i.e. if you send him a letter about guns, you get that, you send him a letter about abortion you get a diffrent one, you send him one about helth care, you get a diffrent one, but every response has been pre written and pre approved based on that issue.

I have always said this guy scares me. He probably considers every gun an assault weapon?

I would not vote for him even if he was running against a rock. Hillary is the same as this guy; just more sneaky.

What is real bad is that he is a reflection of todays young society as a whole.

It will come to the point where some people will get tired of the socialism and refuse to abide by some of the laws.... Then it will get ugly.:(

Wait a minute!!!!

I'm 18 and I don't agree with his views on gun control, energy independence, how 'bad' the republican party is, or his health care policy at all.

The problem is some parents today aren't parenting their kids, and everyone thinks they have a god given right to have the world their way. They don't realize that the constitution was made to protect the citizens from the government, not the other way around.

the rights of legitimate hunters and sportsmen should be protected..... We also have to strike a reasonable balance between public safety and sportsmen's rights.
Where could they possibly get such logic from?
Let's see... I believe our good friend JIM ZUMBO was saying much the same thing a few months ago and he just couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. Thanks a lot Jim.

hows not allowing bayonet lugs an assualt weapon ban ?

Yeah, bayonets. Always the first choice of bank robbers who cannot afford the bullets. Gotta ban guns that allow for the attachment of bayonets. I swear, if I had a dollar for every time a store clerk was held up with a bayonet . . . :uhoh:
