Before I continue the thread, I have a special shout out to RealGun for recommending CME holsters.

I have bought one of my grail guns , just like the title suggests its the lipseys special edition bisley in .44 magnum with the 3.75 inch barrel. Now I am no John Taffin but Ill do my best to relay my experience.

First the gun is not all that light , weighing about 44 oz ( my regular sbh is at 46 oz) But with the catamount holster I received from cme holsters it now has become my edc replacing the sp-101. It rides nice either iwb or between belt and pant. The gun is very solid with a tight cylinder gap. It just reeks of elegance, something like a wild mustang running free. I took this beauty shooting at a indoor range, you could adjust the distance electronically so I cant for sure tell you the distance of each shot ( I was having too much fun changing between 15-50 ft)

Ammo shot was a combination of my own reloads( 240 gr xtp @ 850 fps), factory remington 180 gr jsp (these are thumpers!!!) , winchester 240 gr jsp (more of a push but not bad at all) , hornady .44 specials 180 gr xtps, and the just two rounds of winchester black talons from my daddy's old box.

The bisley grip makes an incredible difference to me, my normal sbh sports the dragoon style trigger guard and 7.5 inch barrel , and those remingtons would hurt me after about 50 rounds. With the different grip style I shot over 150 rounds of the remington!!! Though the recoil was mild those loads left fireballs that people the next stalls over would stop shooting and look to see what the "crazy" guy was shooting!

I know my pics are terrible, but Its what I got.

Neat looking SBH; sort of reminds me of one of those big bore British Bulldog revolvers. Would love to see some photos of the fireball that short barrel gives off!

Thank you all for the kind words, but Alas I have no pictures of the flamethrower it burped out. It was my brother and I and the way the stalls were set up we couldnt get a clear shot.

I had to look far and near, but I couldnt find one, I searched locally and found one but when the man arrived I noticed the front sight was totally missing! So I passed on it and almost gave up hope til my lgs called and said they had one NIB for me just waiting... the rest is history.

I have the Talo version with the small plow handle grip. It gets interesting with 310 grain wfn bullets over 22 grains of PP300MP.

Nice looking gat. Thanks for sharing. I've always preferred the Bisley and birds head grips over the diminutive kaboy grips on the standard Blackhawks.
That seems like quite a step up in weight from the SP101 for everyday carry. How's that working out?

Ive never been a guy to shy away from certain guns for ccw, heck I used to conceal a 6.5 inch barrel model 29 smith! With the holster I bought its very snug and comfortable, I also still carry a beretta 950 as a back up so weight really doesnt bother me.

How does the short ejector rod handle knocking empties out? I had a Montado and found the combination of higher pressure and longer cases made ejection of .357s problematical. The only flaw in a great revolver, IMO.

Good observation, I forgot to mention that, you are correct that with the shortened ejector rod its a little more cumbersome to reload, but its a flaw ,at least to me, that I can live with.

You could always use Buffalo Bore SWCHP .44 Specials for SD use.
The lower pressure/recoil and shorter case will make accurate/consistent shooting and case ejection easier.

With the shortened case , the ejector rod now has to travel even further, actually making it more difficult with the special cases, and I have found the speer short barrel load quite comforting.
