Revolvers, fewer is more

What to do with old antler mounts? I have a few from some of my better hunts, all mule deer except one moose, hanging on my reloading room wall. I doubt anyone will want them when I go.
You never know. Something like that would be sentimental to me if given by a friend. I have a an ammo box that is sentimental given to me by a friend on a gun forum. I purchased something from him, and he sent it in an ammo box. I don't remember what I purchased, but the box I remember and it's on display in my glass front cabinet.

I have been slowly exchanging firearms for cash. As I get older, I am trying to make it easier for Herself if I pre-decease her.

Smart move. Better I sell off most of my guns now. My kids don't want all my guns. I am saving an adequate variety for them.

At least you have someone interested in receiving them. I have no children. The wife’s daughter, no interest. Grandkids being raised the same.

There are a few young folks who live near us that might have interest.

I couldn’t care less what happens to my stuff when I die. I have no kids but I am making sure that my wife will be taken care of financially for the rest of her life when I do crater. As for my guns, she can sell them, bury them in a land fill, light them on fire…..I couldn’t care less because I will be DEAD…..but until that time, I am most likely going to keep on collecting.

You are the same age as my son so that makes you still a kid to me. :D If you are still in good health it's too soon to be worrying about down sizing unless you have just lost interest. I do understand getting rid of something that no longer holds interest for you though. That is what I did with my ipad but it was more hate than interest thing. It did save me money in the long run as my wife had her antique one give up the ghost and I gave her mine. No reason for it to be just laying around unused.

Hey Dad…kidding. 😆
Anyway, that’s exactly why I got rid of some of my guns. They just weren’t getting used and I just didn’t want them any longer. I put them to a better use.
Plus I have other hobbies as well.
My motorcycle, my roadster, fishing, hunting, reloading… it all takes money. Unused / unwanted guns mean capital for other things.

although the value of my modest 'collection' is actually substantial, neither the wife or I really need the money long term. I am still buying when I run across something that really tickles my fancy. I'll croak long before the missus, and my son will handle disposing of the remuda. He gets first pick for free, of course, and does not have to wait. Back in Feb, he took home a minty S&W Model 19

I feel I've come of that age.

Over months (and months) I've sold off many guns.

Now have but three K-frame and three L-frame S&Ws.

And I appreciate them more than when I had a much larger number.

Two are Combat Masterpieces .38s that have special meaning for me.

I use two Performance Center models regularly for HD and sometimes when I'm out and about.

Of autos, only one which has special meaning for me and is basically retired.

I do enjoy this site as for so many the hunt remains strong for new experiences. But as I said, I'm of that age. And most content.
your Revolver journeys might have be coming to a close but for many of us. It’s just begun, remember your 1st year of collecting?!?!?! I’m loving every minute of it. Model 10’s are my weakness!

I forgot the word but it's Swedish for "death cleaning". I'm only in my mid-fifties but I'm moving to a new place this month and accutely aware of how much crap I have. There's still a few firearms I want but mostly I have what I need. Going to focus on quality over quantity and choose things that serve specific roles from here on out. Well, that's the current plan anyway.

Fortunately, my oldest daughter is interested in my collection.I'm sure she will dispose of a few items but that's ok. I hope she keeps the firearms that have been in the family for decades.

Of course, they come with Residential Security Devices to give her some protection at her home.

Your weakness is your strength !

As much as I can appreciate the spirit of the OP, and even after my earlier post in this thread, I have failed.
After agreeing that less is more, and confessing that I have been selling some of my accumulation, I have fallen off the wagon.
First, I stopped by one of my favorite LGS to pick up some 9mm range fodder. Oh heck no, I had to leave with a 1960 Colt
3-5-7. And no 9mm ammo.
Then today, figured I'd stop by a pawn shop I pass once in a while. They only ever have a half dozen handguns or so, but sometimes they have exactly what I was looking for. That's where I got my pristine 15-3.
Now today, they had an unfired Rock Island 9mm 1911. The one with good sites, trigger over travel screw, serrated and skeletonized trigger and hammer. I just had to take it home for the low price of $350.
I'm a failure at thinning the herd.
But I'm a happy camper!

I’m a failure at thinning the herd as well but I feel if I sell something even with a modicum of limitation, I won’t be able to replace it in the future should I feel the need.

I’ll agree, most if my firearms do not get fired much but replacing them will be virtually impossible.
