Rimfires I've loved or hated

My faves would be an old fingergroove 1022 and the Sav/ Anschutz 64 single shot target rifle (1403 ).

I had a 12x Leupold AO on the 64.

Hated my Rem 541 T HB.

Had a single six 22 mag as a kid.
Had newer versions.
None now.

Only .22 Ruger revolver id consider....
the Bearcat w adjustable sights. What a cutie. And Id strap that little thing on and run a trap line :)

Ive not had probs w 1022 jamming.
Dont run promo or std V ammo
Four of mine were from '72 or older
Did get a 243 prefix one used like new and w GM bbl brand new it hung up a few times but eventually stopped screwing up and ran fine. Slow fire or as fast as you could go.
Reg 10 shot mags.

I rather dislike the look and feel of the 1022 standard stock.
But a fingergroove makes it a whole nuther machine.

When I was a kid I had a late 70s Winchester 190 that I really hated. It came with a cheap scope and was the least accurate gun I've ever shot. It wouldn't shoot a 6" group from 25 yards in a vice! I gave it for parts to a friend who had an older one that shot very well. Now that I'm older I realize it was probably the cheap scope. Now I have a Ruger American bolt action with a 22" barrel and a decent scope that's a wonderful rifle. I also love my Ruger MK IV 22/45 target pistol!

One thing to check on the Winchester Model 190/290 series rifles is the barrel nut. They come loose and when they do, accuracy goes out the window. Even though I don't shoot my 190 very often, it is pretty accurate, it just has horrible trigger.

Ruger 96/22 lever action, outshot my marlin bolt and a CZ452. Hated,...probably a chiappa double badger, multiple warranty issues, the LGS wont even deal with Chiappa any more.

I can't think of any rimfire rifles I've hated, but I sure never warmed up to the Ruger 10/22 carbine I bought new nearly 30 years ago. I used it as trade fodder towards a J-frame revolver within a year of ownership.

It's not the 10/22's fault, I just never really warmed up to autoloading rimfire rifles of any kind. I much prefer lever and bolt action rimfire rifles. I feel the same about centerfire autoloading rifles, but they make enough sense from a defense standpoint that I do keep the centerfires around.

Now that I think about this even further, I prefer rimfire revolvers to rimfire pistols, too.

Well, I can't leave this post all negative , so the rimfire rifles I really like that I currently own are my Marlin 39AS, a CZ452 Training Rifle, and a Zastava MP22 "scout rifle".

:)

I hear ya. I had one 10/22 and gave it to my stepson. It wasn't bad, just didn't do anything for me.

What I love is my Winchester 1890 that I got from my uncle! He got it when he was a kid. Still in good shape, accurate and in the somewhat rarer 22lr. Next in line would be a store branded Mossberg 146B. Also accurate if I do my part. Honorable mention goes to my dad's Steven's Marksman. He found it in a creek when he was twelve. He's ninety now. Had to have $180 worth of work done to tighten her up and get it safely shootable. Not very pretty or accurate, but my dad gave it to me. Might have the barrel relined next. Still a fun single shot though.

I will be the odd ball here.

One of my best 22’s believe it or not is a Remington 597
The stock has several channels and a rear end that allows bedding and space for added weight, I free floated the stock as well as polishing the Volquartsen hammer and added extractor. Cerakoted barrel. Folks have a lot of issues due to over tightening the blowback rails which must be hand tight and backed off 1/4 turn this has worked perfectly for mine. I get a 1inch moa with an occasional flyer with thunderbolts, federal match etc. I have shot my best with wolf, eley, and CCI. On good days these can assist me in producing sub moa results at 50 yds. Current scope is a Muller target 8x32x44.

my best ever with this rifle
triple stackers with the occasional flyer
Pic of the rifle before adding the new optic and the 50yd gems.
