Does anyone on here have one? How do you like it? Any problems? How reliable is it for you?

I am wanting one. I like the price. I like the size. I get a kick out of the fact that they are built in the country that inspired their design in the first place. But, I don't like spending my very hard to come by dollars on something that isn't gonna work. So, I am asking the THR community to offer opinions on these. Specifically the 3".

Also, if you have done any "work" to yours, please show it. I'm a 1911 nut with not a lot of cash and like to live vicariously.

Thanks.

I have a citadel, made by RIA and imported by legacy arms. Big difference is mine came with 2 mags instead of the standard RIA 1 mag.

It is the CS model (3.5 inch). I love it. I did have to send the barrel in to get recut to feed reloads. it fed most factory stuff fine, but didn't like my oversized lead stuff. 2 dollars to ship the barrel back to AZ, and about a week later I had my barrel back in hand and it feds EVERYTHING. Absolutely love it.

here are a few pics of mine (Large pics)

May I suggest you check out other forums for comments on the RIA Tactical compacts.

I've owned several RIA's along with a few other "Name Brand" 1911's including a couple of 3 inch models. Honestly I'll buy an RIA or Citadel over anything short of custom build. For me they have been more reliable and accurate right out of the box more often than any other brand I've owned. Sorry Springer and Colt fanboy's but for what you get for your money RIA and their sister pistols win hands down in my book.

An RIA Compact is my daily carry gun. It's not the "full Tactical" model, but the "in-between" one. Has the beavertail and combat hammer, but regular trigger and crappy sights. I have four RIA 1911's, great pistols for the price.

I have one as well

It is a great pistol for the money but I have 2 minor problems with mine. First the good news. The good news is that it has fed every single round of factory ammo including hollow points 100% reliably. It is also darn accurate for a gun of that size. For the $300 that I gave for it, it is one of the best buys that I have made. I got it used but like new in the box.
The slightly less than good news is that when I bought it the slide would not lock back on an empty mag. I replaced the slide stop and voila the problem was fixed. Unfortunately I probably should have bought a better one as the problem is now back. The only other thing that is wrong with mine is that it doesn't feed my lead reloads reliably either. It will work most of the time but not always. I did duracoat mine and added Wilson G10 grips to it. If I can find pics I will post them later.

I have looked at other forums but on the one I am a member of, it's a sub-forum made up of RIA fanfolk. If you have criticisms of the brand I would like to hear them in open and honest discussion.

Thanks to all that have commented so far.

I have a RIA/Armscor 1911 CS and love the gun. It is my daily carry and invested in some Novak Trijicon night sights and extra work done by Armscor Precision to make the gun handle every ammo out there in 45 ACP. I've had the gun 3 years now and thousands of rounds through it with out a single problem.

Tophernj,
The forums to which I was alluding have discussions that are both positive and negative. As I do not own the compact Tactical, I cannot comment.
