I see in the Jan SOG ad they are selling Romanian Tokarev Pistols for $229.

Are these New made or copies made in romania a while back.

The ad dosnlt list them as C&R.

Any info on them would be appreicated.

I'm not seeing these on SOG's website?

I've been looking for a Tokarev pistol in 7.62x25mm for a while now, and have been unable to find one for a reasonable price.

That's because they only update their website about 3 times a year max. It's pretty worthless if you want to find out what they have in stock.

Its in the Jan sog flyer and the web site never up to date.

The Soviet Tokarevs were not manufactured with a safety. The one in the referenced web page was added for importation. The only Tokarevs made with safety that I can think of were the ones manufactured in Hungary (?) for Egypt and the Chinese ones intended for sale in the U.S. Of course soon as I write this down somebody will come along and name some more... but those are the only ones that I remember offhand. :cuss:

C@R Tokarev

Russian Tokarevs are C&R because they stoped production in 50’s.There is no manual safety on Tokarev and there is no need for one. Hammer will not touch firing pin unless trigger is pulled to the end. All Tokarevs made in Eastern Europe are in general same quality. That des not include CZ 52 what is just using same caliber but completely different design locking is similar as mg42. There is slight variation in Tokarevs but for me Yugoslavian and Chinese copies have best finish. Do not buy CZ 52 if you looking for 7.62x25 gun. CZ is garbage and you can replace firing pin after only 50 rounds. Also requires Check ammo which is 25% stronger than standard.

Hmmmm...

My CZ52 had no trouble with Norinco 7.62x25 ammo and the firing pin hasn't broke yet, but then I don't dry fire it.

I've also a Chinese Tokarev and the CZ52 is far superior in every way. But every collection should have at least one example of each, get them while you can!

Unfortunately for you, the evidence out there on the net, does not support your claim about the CZ being junk. It is a great pistol even if unconventional.

The Romanian pistols have a safety added to meet import requirements.
I have owned several genuine Russian Tokarevs over the years and none had any safety other than a half cock notch.
As for this Romak pistol, I took the worse of five guns the shop brought in.
It looks like crap and is mismatched but the barrel is like new and the gun is totally reliable and stupidly accurate with Romanian and Chinese ammunition.
I like it.

Well that is my personal opinion. I have CZ 52 and really don’t see anything great on that pistol. Same with CZ 70
Indeed the decocker raises the firing pin disengage and what stops the hammer from falling appears to be an intercept notch. If this is worn, the firing pin plunger in the slide may or may not stop the firing pin from striking the primer when decocking. Other guns, such as the Makarov have a cam from the safety move directly in the hammer's way. We have yet to rip apart the pistol and determine what causes this. In the mean time please be careful about decocking the pistol with a round in the chamber and do not rely on this mechanism to safely decock the CZ-52!
