Might it be possible for one (or more) of you folks to take a couple of photos of your Rossi and post them here for me?

I'm interested seeing what the frame of the gun looks like under the grip. For reference, see this thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=307311

As you can see in that thread, a Rossi tech told me that the frame of the 461/462 was different from that of the 877. However, I've got a suspicion that the tech may have been thinking of the older model 68 & 88 revolvers. I hope to be able to compare your photo against my friend's gun and make a determination as to whether there actually is any difference.

So, if someone could help me out with this, I be most appreciative.

Thanks,
Steve

Anyone? :(

In absence of someone here owning one, might there be anyone who has access to a 461/462 otherwise? A decent schematic would probably work as well.

If all else fails, I suppose I'll just buy a new grip and hope it works; or use my WECSOG skill on it to make it work.

I believe the 461 was the 877 before Rossi
was bought by Taurus and was renamed I
would take the gun to a shop and try
different grips.

You could call rossi again and talk to a
different tech, you might get a different
answer.Based on what i couild find on the
web i think the grips are the same on the
461,877 and the 971 series.

I have a 462 and was told by a Taurus rep that it was the same frame as the Taurus 617.
If you have any luck finding better grips please let us know. I have been looking myself and have had no luck.

I like mine. I like Rossi's, in general. My first handgun was a Rossi 720. It gave fine service. I guess that's why I have a soft spot for them. I didn't know enough to know that I shouldn't like them before I already liked them. I've had a dozen or so Rossi's and have never had any trouble out of any of them. I had a 22lr 518 that is the most accurate revolver I've ever shot. My Daddy liberated that one from me. I had a couple 877's that I really liked. The Braztech version is fine, except for the silly, little lock on the hammer. I trimmed a couple coils off of the hammer spring, and like it just fine. I like the grip. I roundbutted that 720 so I could install the 877/462 grip on it.

I have been very happy with my 462. I rarely shoot it, but it so far has been a great buy. The finish of the polished stainless alone is worth the price.
My only complaint is the grips and finding a holster was a b&^$h. If you want a nice holster, I had FIST make me a nice thumb break using the Taurus 617 as the mold. Perfect fit.

I bought my 461 used for $150....I like it alot....I bought it as a glove box gun,but it ended up being my IDPA revolver it was so accurate. The trigger was sucky in the beginning, but I dry and live fired the crap out of it and it smoothed out.Goes bang every time w/ any ammo.
As far holsters,a holster for a smith and wesson mod. 10 (and speedloaders for that matter)will work..
