I ordered a CZ-75b In satin nickle
Went to pick it up today . Got there about 3:50 I did not realize
he closed at 4 .
I opened up the case he snaps at me and says
" If you want it you better hurry up I am ready to close "
I Almost said Keep it but I gotta have it .
He was also the dealer that told me they were crap
but he could order me one if I really wanted it .
I knew different from reading posts here .
He has been kind of rude before too.
Last gun I buy from him .

Take Care , Bill

Drop a little letter in the mail to let him know what you wont be back and you wont recommend him.

I sell cars...if I did this, I would be unemployed!

I visited a new one today. It had been advertised on a local radio station and was across the street from a new account. Walked in, lots of my kind of stuff- ARs, Barretts, etc. The owner-I guess- was busy bsing with a guy about shooting prairie dogs at 900 yards with a .50, the other guy could get them at 1100, etc, etc. I drive a new vehicle and was wearing business clothes, I was the only other person in the store and was totally ignored for the 15 minutes I spent there. Not a large store, maybe 10x20, no place for me to not be seen. Screw 'em, there are plenty of other places to spend my $. Oh yeah, for the locals on the board, it's Prairie Arms in Littleton, just off Santa Fe, south of C470.

When I walk into my local shop someone calls out my name.

They great everybody that walks through the doors, not only is it good business it is also good security.

Shame Shame

You keeping that poor dealer from closing up. He works hard sitting around all day waiting for people to give him their money. And people like you wanting him to be thankful and happy to give you a little extra service? Hmmm some people really think just because they give their money to a gun dealer he should be extra nice to them. What a shame:rolleyes:

bfox, where in PA are you, cause there's a lot of dealers in your state that would be glad to order any gun you want without the hassle.

Keep looking for a good one, the one I frequent here, (and yes PM me and I will name them), Is a Kimber, Hk, Glock dealer. They have excellent prices the most polite staff ever and will get anything I want in under 48 hours.
They sell about 15,000 guns per year and it shows

I once misdirected somebody to Ron Peterson's store in ABQ telling him they had some of the turnbull case hardened model 10s that came along before the heritage series. I told him the wrong store.

Ron Peterson is a good guy and so are most of his employees but he had a dude in there that looks like Captain Kangaroo who joys in insulting people. The poor guy I sent to the wrong store got a butt full of him.

I feel bad about that.

sheesh you think you got it bad? when i go to the gunshop i get asked 'why havent you swept these floors yet?!'

:D

Always I ask which come first the chicken or the egg, do gun dealers
become this way after opening a shop or do people who are this way
become gun dealers. In my 40+ years of gun buying i have found
a very small group of good shops, what a shame.:(

For me, it's the same as Here2.........................

I pretty much visit one place because of several years of experience with the other places in my area.......they can't compare. The owner of this shop has become a friend, he's almost always got the lowest gun prices in a 50 mile radius, he'll order you anything you want, he is a straight talker and friendly about it, is always willing to share helpful info, yet he doesn't think he knows it all. He's a hunter, a conservative and very pro-gun.

It's a one man shop that's only open in the evenings b/c the guy has a full time factory job. He's not trying to make a million dollars over night and you don't even have to be buying when you're there, you can just go to hang out and visit.

I've purchased my last 7 guns from him and between my brothers and father, they've probably added another 6 at least. My wife has gone in there and purchased 2 pistols for me for gifts over the last few years and he's been very helpful to her, treats her with respect and is NEVER a critical jackass to her.

He always takes the time to say thank you and stop back. We always do.

we have 3 shops in the local area. 2 were always glad to see people come in and they were almost always helpful. the third acted like he was doing everybody a favor by being there. there's only 2 shops now. i wonder why?:)

Darn gun dealers always pickin on the nice polite knowledgeable customers that are o so courteous.....

Think Ill go bash some cops

Two of the friendliest gunshops in my neck of the woods (Northern Virginia)
are Gilberts Small Arms Range, in Lorton, and Virginia Arms in Manassass.
Both are top-notch in all respects.
Two of the un-friendliest, from my experience, are Loudon Guns, in Leesburg and Shooter's Paradise, in Woodbridge. Maybe not un-friendly really, but don't seem to care if you are there or not. Horses for courses!

Hi
I started this thread .
Also when I gave him me Visa checkcard he was a little snippy to
says I will have to charge you extra for using it .
Originally he could only get the blued , Had a deposit on it but the satin nicklle came in I wanted.
When I called earlier he says it was a little more.
Asked if it would be better if I come tomorrow with cash .
He says yes.
when I aked how much He gets snippy again and says I gave you a receipt .
But you said it was exta for the SN
He totaled it up, picked it up the next day .
I have always been polite and courteous ( I think )
Hey everyone got a bad day but don't take it out on me.
I live in Plum right outside of Pittsburgh

bfox,

I hear you on the rude gun dealer experiences. My fiance and I were treated poorly at one dealer in the bay area. The salesman was a complete and total butt-wipe when she politely asked to handle a Benelli M3 when we were clearly the only potential customers perusing the counters. He was sitting behind the counter, not even eating or watching TV. Just sitting. We took our money elsewhere.

However, I've also seen BAD customers. For every bad dealer out there, there are at least a dozen or so extremely horrible customers (bfox, I'm not insinuating that you're one of them).

If you think gun shops are bad, try a local coin shop. The rudest service I've ever seen has been in coin shops; the owners seem convinced that there are two types of customers--idiots who don't know what coins are worth when they try to sell, and idiots who don't know what coins are worth when they try to buy. No wonder Ebay put many of them out of business.

I think that in order to open a coin shop, the American Numismatic Association requires potential owners to take a customer service test--and fail.

Heh. This shop you've been getting snipped at wouldn't happen to be in Penn Hills, would it, almost next door to a police station?

Namvet,

Sorry you've had bad experiences with Shooters Paradise. I can tell you as the owner, that I GREATLY appreciate ANY business we receive. I've been in the process of improving Shooters over the last two years. Apparently, I've still got some work left. If there's anything I can do to help improve my shop, I'm open for suggestions. Please email me with any advice or concerns.

Apologies,

Phil Strader

Just lucky to have the shops around here, I guess. Connecticut, by the way.
I responded to a similar thread not long ago, one that addressed the various shops and experiences around the country. Sounds like I've got it pretty good compared to some.
There is one shop I no longer go to because of the owners attitude and prices. His loss, since the word has gotten around.
