Looks like a real winner for Ruger. No billboard, no FPS, no front serrations, just a nice basic gun. I like it.

It looks like the warning is under the dust cover on the bottom of the frame.
I think it looks like a nice 1911. It does not come in blue as of yet.

I've been happy with my Rugers (so far, have just a few), and with the company's general commitment to quality. (That's the way I perceive it, at least -- I know every company has detractors and fans.) If they've made a 1911 that can be pretty happy without much expensive gunsmithing / hand-fitting / long threads of comments about extraction problems, etc, it goes at least on my wishlist, even if it's on the "later rather than sooner" part of it ;)

I've heard it will come with a magazine disconnect, one of the most worthless additions ever put in a handgun.

I wonder if they would take my P90DC in trade? ;)

I have a Springfield Arms Range Officer on order. They missed their chance. 30 years I've bought Ruger's and finally they bring out something I really wanted and I've already committed to another brand.

The most impressive thing that Michael Bane mentioned was the that the plunger tube was cast as part of the frame and that the rear of the barrel was well fitted (he has the experience to know the difference)

I'm not too sure about the slotted burr hammer (I do like the Nastoff cutout) or the tapered grip safety.

It does rather remind me of the AMT Hardballer

The correct decision regardless of the new Ruger, IMHO. Springers are time tested and great 1911s......lets see what Ruger has over the next few years.

BTW, is the frame cast or forged?

IMHO, it's designs that get "time tested", and the 1911 certainly fits that bill. Ruger ain't exactly a slouch when it comes to manufacturing firearms - they know what they're doing.

While I find the new offering a bit boring (afterall, it's not exactly as if there's shortage of 1911 options right now - new designs are more interesting), I will admit that as a Ruger fan, when I get ready to buy one, they'll probably be on the top of my list. Since I have it on my agenda to get one before the year is out (100th anniversary and all - I can't resist :)) - I will likely get one of they're available soon enough.

As a matter of fact, with the price point at $799 MSRP, and knowing that you can almost count on Buds having most guns at around 75% of MSRP, AND this baby being in stainless, I'll say that if I knew exactly how much it was gonna be, I'd just write the check now and hold on to it :D.
