It's not just a polymer frame, but the ejector rod has a built-in laser module, with the battery under the right grip panel. The laser is activated when the hammer is cocked, just as it passes the half-cock notch, and the laser goes off when the hammer drops, greatly saving on the battery life. It uses a proprietary direct-metal contact, so there are no wires showing. Production is scheduled for second quarter 2010, but there are about 20 pre-production models floating around

Wouldn't a .22 RF Redhawk weigh about 7 pounds?
Not really. The Single Six is a rimfire version of the Blackhawk, smaller and lighter, no reason not to do the same with a Double Six.

I'd say probably a 1911. Ruger needs a full sized semi that works.
You either have purchased lemons or have little experience with Ruger semi autos. The MK's are one of the best made rimfire semi autos. The P series with the exception of the P345 is one of the most reliable semi auto centerfires made. The P90, P95, P89, all are know for durability and reliability.
The P345 had all the typical issues that went with it, until I learned that if I removed the magazine disconnect spring it would work fine. I removed the spring and hundreds of rounds later not a single problem. I could hold a 4 inch group at 21 feet with two full magazines, 16 rounds.

An inexpensive 9mm or .40 S&W carbine is what I'm hoping for.

They had the PC9 and PC4 carbines. Discontinued recently. No one was buying them. I would see even less demand today with pistol ammo prices where they are now.

Please god not another 1911:barf::barf::barf: don't get me wrong I like 1911's and own 3 of them but we don't need another one on the market!!! Also I pray that the polymerframe-lasersighted-highspeed-lowdrag SA is a joke:confused:

I would like to see a double action polymer medium frame .357 or .44 special or even a .41 mag chambered medium frame revo in steel or poly.:D

I don't care what it is . As gun person, I'm just happy to see a gun company put forth the effort.

I would be happy to see a moderately-priced steel framed 1911 made in America (United States of America that is).

I wonder if Jeff Quinn was joking on that Ruger forum. He'd probably be one to know if anyone outside of the company would know. I, personally, would like to see Ruger enter the 1911 market and with their investment casting process they could make a 1911-style pistol pretty inexpensively. Lots of Ruger bashers on this site. Sounds a lot like my Grandpa when he would run his mouth about Ford's.

A solid, decently priced 1911...doesn't have to be that fancy. Good sights, good quality internals priced right would go a long way. Particuarly if it's offered in not just .45, but 9mm for us 9mm fans...

When I posted earlier "Ruger needs a full sized semi that works". I really wasn't referencing the P-series. I have a P-944 that has been a good reliable gun. The last few new releases Ruger has come out with have had recalls though. There are still a lot of threads showing up on Rugerforum.com of people having problems with SR-9's with peening issues on the barrel.
Ruger needs to get a new release of a Semi-Auto right the first time.

I'm not a Ruger basher. I own and like a few Rugers.

However, I haven't seen any new offerings from Ruger that are "pretty inexpensive." To do what Bill Ruger did with the Blackhawk, Ruger would have to offer the equivalent of a Springfield Loaded for 400 bucks retail.

I'm betting that's not going to happen. Much as people like to pile on old Bill, there's at least some of his influence that Ruger might be able to use these days...

Lately, Ruger's come up with a plastic answer to a J-frame for the same price, a Kel-Tec pocket gun competitor for a higher price, and a piston AR that SIG just undercut by a pretty good margin -- SIG! SIG has not exactly been known for their aggressively competitive pricing...

I'll say this much: if Ruger sells a decent 1911 for 400 bucks, I'll line up for it. Maybe two. I'm not holding my breath.
