Ruger countdown here we go again

That post has to be a joke. A poly framed single action with a built in laser? I don't think so.

Friend in the biz hopes it's a compact SR-9

They sure have seemed impressed with themselves over the last year or so. I wish I could share their enthusiasm.
100% agree.
I have not been impressed by anything Ruger put out since the P97 was discontinued.

Well you can't say that they didn't make a good copy of the K-T P3at.

An almost exact copy to the point of having some of the same flaws and requiring the same post sale "fluff and buff" to work.

Now that's a good copy!

What the world needs now is another 1911 clone, yeah right. :barf:

Can you say innovation? If you can't innovate, replicate?

I wish them much success with their new product, because the future of shooting and the firearms industry are inextricably intertwined.

I'm glad someone keeps trying to improve the state of the industry. I'm not a big Ruger fan, but that could be arranged if they are listening and trying to meet people's wants and needs.

Preemptive disparagement doesn't seem all that useful.

Oh happy happy joy joy...another 1911!
Not that there is anything wrong with the 1911...only the >best< pistol ever! But do we really neeeeed another flavor of it?

SR308...good idea, as long as it is affordable...oh,wow, I have an idea....why don't they invent a way to build quality firearms at an affordable price!?!?

Lately, Ruger's come up with a plastic answer to a J-frame for the same price

Ruger should have made it a poly copy of the Colt Detective Special.

6 shots in a compact design? Would have sold like hotcakes if priced around a J frame, provided it was reliable. I would have strongly considered one.

But, they screwed it up.

In general I would like to see Ruger chamber revolvers in 480 Ruger again. Such a good caliber and such a waste that they did not market the caliber very well.

I hear they're coming out with a SXS

Iffin I remember correctly, they did that already. The quickly discontinued Gold Label SxSs. Never did see one in person......I believe they were in the $3500 price range.....so much for the working man's shottie.

I too hope it's something new and innovative and not just imitated. Hard to believe there would be much of a market to corner in the 1911 platform, especially with the kids now enamored with the new double stackers. I'd like to see them bring back the .44 auto carbine....and maybe one like it chambered in .460 S&W.

Ruger promised them for $1995 MSRP. That's where they failed miserably.

I shot one. I liked it. However, unless it sold for $1700 on the street, with a bit of tasteful engraving and some figure in the walnut, I can't see it being successful. Aesthetically, the Gold Label looked like something military-issue, and there are plenty of SxS guns out there to fill the demand, once you go $2500 and up. And yes, when someone pays more than $1500 for a gun, there's some expectation that it will look somewhat nice.

Apparently Ruger misjudged what it takes to build a quality SxS that shoots straight (like a lot of people on this board).

Agreed. I shot a .480 SRH and I wanted to buy one. I just wanted to get set up to handload first. Then, they quit making them. It seems to me that, if Ruger had hung tight and waited for the hype surrounding the X-frame cartridges to die down, the .480 would be quite popular among people who actually intended to shoot the gun and hunt with it, as opposed to those who bought an X-frame as a stainless steel phallus. (I actually prefer S&W DA revolvers to Rugers, but I really think the SRH in .480 was a magical combination of weight, balance and power that S&W hasn't ever come close to matching.)

How about a Mini 14 that accepts AR mags? Maybe that's all that's needed to solve the accuracy problem:D

A couple of members put the link up with the info in it. This seems to be real, unless it's just to throw everyhttp: //www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=73824one off.

Yeah I know that was my attempt at humor :)

Maybe Ruger is building a pump action shotgun. That would be cool, then you could have all of your bases covered from one company.

Maybe ruger made a luger, out of plastic, yuk, . A nice streamlined slimed down copy of a Walther or makarov, in 9mm para, with 10 rounds, and a laser for under $450.00. Keep dreaming right. Or a copy of the colt 1903, 32 caliber gangster pocket pistol only in 9, and in black aluminum, or nickel. They had to copy something.

How about a PC-45 that accepts say... 1911 or Glock 21 mags? That'd be a nice addition - if only
From a company that seems to make half its income selling overpriced mags? yeah, that could happen.

What I hope they make

Something without warning labels

What they probably will make

An innovation on an old idea

I just can't imagine that they would put another 1911 on the market and if they do it will have to be on the cheap side. I am not a big fan of any gun that I can not CC so they won't be selling one to me. If I were to buy a 1911 style it would be the Colt Defender Compact 45 SS. The .45 would complete my collection from .22 to .45 cal for CC.

Compact 9mm is my bet. To much hype for just another caliper or version of weapon. Im betting its something on par with the LCP, LCR SR556 and SR9 just on the fact that all the 10/22 variants just get a simple news announcement. As for a shotgun, today's sale driver is the tactical/home defense weapon, it would be incredible stupid to release a new hunting, or competition gun right now.

That said, S&W are covering all my handgun needs right now, Ruger is just supplying me with a supply of 22lrs. Im very interested in what it is, but probably wont buy it unless it just completely knocks my socks off.
