I've mostly overlooked 22 rimfire handguns through my life. I see Ruger offers the SP101 and the GP100 in 22LR, but I only see 4.2" and 5.5" respectively.

Did Ruger offer their double action 22's in 6" or 7 1/2" barrels????? Maybe the earlier security six models or some sort....

Nope, never have.

In revolvers, Rugers offerings in .22lr have mostly been confined to their SA lineup.

That they are offering RF LCR, SP-101, and GP-100 is a major business model change

If you're looking for a 6 inch barrel .22 LR double action, you're best bang for the buck is the Taurus Tracker or a Charter Arms. I saw a 6 inch .22 Mag Charter Arms in an lgs recently and was stunned because I thought they only made them in 4 inch barrels, but I wasn't sure if it was a used gun or new.

The Taurus will be more competition oriented, be bigger and heavier, and hold 9 rounds. Oh, and come with a .22 Mag cylinder too I believe. If weight and price isn't an issue, it's a great option.

I had a 4 1/8" SP101 .22 and after two trips to our gunsmith it still had the worst sa/da pull of any .22 I've owned and in 75 years that's a pile of 22s. Back to the 63.

I have an older Taurus Tracker, stainless with 6" barrel. Maybe I lucked out but it is a tack driver considering I'm behind the trigger. As accurate as my K-22 with a 7.5" barrel although the trigger isn't as good as the Smith. (What is as good as a S&W K frame trigger that has had thousands of rounds through it?) I assume Taurus still offers one with the longer barrel.

Taurus gets knocked by some folks but I've had four of their revolvers and they have all been well made and accurate.

I have two Ruger's in 22WMR. An LCR and a 3" LCRx. The performance on both guns is great. I especially like the 3" because of the rear adjustable sights and of course the longer barrel. They are both available in . 22LR.
