I saw an example sometime back, of a Redhawk that had had the rear adjustable sight assembly removed, and replaced with a fixed sight that screwed right in place where the previous rear sight had sat. I know this is vague, but any ideas or help out there ?

I would hope I had enough presence of mind to look on that site. Yes, I looked. It's a custom gunsmithing site. I'm not paying custom gunsmith price for a fixed rear sight.

I don't quite understand why someone would want to replace an adjustable sight with a fixed sight.

Less to break.

Bowen Rough Country sights don't seem easy to break. I've got two of them specifically for that reason. I set them where I want them, then blue locktite them in place. No wiggling or loosening thus far on either a GP100 or a Redhawk.

I’ve never heard of or seen a fixed sight sold to replace one on a Ruger, so custom might be necessary if that’s what you want. If I had concerns about the durability of the factory sight I would definitely take a look at the Bowen’s.

I have a lathe, and can easily get a mill. I can make my own sight if I had to.

You want a custom sight, but you're unwilling to pay what that would cost.
The Bowen sight is excellent and rugged beyond expectations, but it doesn't fix your desires...it's also not inexpensive.

Luckily you can make your own sight...which sounds like it solves your search

pic_2008_11_24_revolver_large.jpg Just ordered the D&L for my 629 after seeing one at a show a couple weeks back. Very much looking forward to it.
Sadly, they only offer an optional sight for Ruger single-actions but I'd give him a call anyhow just to see.

I have a couple of Redhawks, and have had no problems, with broken sights? Hope you find the fixed sight that will work, for you.
