that group is hardly good for shotgun slugs. you should let another guy shoot it. it has to do better then that. with the irons if the rifle is capable I could at 50 yds shoot it into a ragged hole.
Lol that isn't a group, that's me adjusting the red dot after mounting it, the last shot was to the right of the bullseye and I know I moved on the break, I was sitting in a rocking chair and shoot off of a shooting stick so I figured it was close enough when I start zeroing the scope I will get the lead bag out and a better chair, those were just to get to shoot it, by the way at 50 yards through the red dot or over irons on that 12 inch target all I'm seeing is a yellow blur and I shot at the center of the blurry spot lol, for me a scope is a must

I'm pretty sure that's a hydrodipped synthetic stock
It is in fact a Ruger American factory plastic stock, hydro dipped in a Burlwood pattern. The gun is so accurate I didn't want to change the stock but thanks to Uncle Sam I have a deep seated hatred of black plastic stocks. This I can live with.

Congrats, mongoslow. I'm a Scout rifle enthusiast. I'm running a Vortex LER scope and it's held up well. I have the laminate stock, but it is a bit heavy, and I removed that silly flash hider. The M77 is an excellent platform.

[Edit] Here's a pic. I'm using QD rings so I can pull the optic and use the ghost ring sights in the field.

I originally reverse cantilevered a standard scope on my Savage Scout and it worked fine because the comb is adjustable:

However, when I decided that in fact, I really like scout scopes I since acquired a Vortex Scout for it and never looked back. Except to say, I own two Burris scouts, one in the 2.75X fixed and their little zoom optic as well and both blow the Vortex away.

I too use the Warne steel QR rings so I can remove the scope and revert to the excellent ghost ring/peep.

I'm in Montana for a few weeks but it's high on my list of things to do when I get back home

I just picked up this 10 round Magpul Pmag for my Ruger for $36 after taxes, just wanted to know if you scout owners had used them and the results, I trust my life ro the 20 round AR Pmags in my travel gun so I'm hoping this is at least the same quality 20221203_155235.jpg 20221203_154233.jpg

@mongoslow

I have not yet used a MagPul AICS mag been meaning to get one but just haven’t. I did however buy some nice Alpha Industries Type 2 metal magazines that are more compact than the OEM Ruger mag.

Let me know how the MagPul magazines functio, I may need to pick up a couple.

Picked up a set of UTG twist lock low mount scope rings this morning
