Then tell me... what do you call KelTec owners that are carrying around a pistol with the same drop fault as the Ruger LCP? (It's a copy, remember?)
Are they unknowing unpaid KelTec Beta testers?
Not for nothing, but the Kel-Tec Kool-Aid may actually be stronger than the Glock Kool-Aid. Those folks over at KTOG were rabid last I looked at the forum (which was, admittedly several years ago).
My experience with Kel-Tec was completely negative, and I did feel like an unpaid beta tester for the P40 I foolishly purchased soon after they arrived on the scene (I learned my lesson, no more new design guns for me). I gave KT 3 chances to get the P40 right, but they could never make it feed even one magazine without a malfunction. Eventually I had them replace the .40 slide and barrel with a 9x19 slide and barrel. It worked somewhat better, but was still nowhere near reliable enough to use as a carry gun.
I tried the P32 next, and I owned two different ones because I really wanted to like it. Neither worked well enough to be a defensive gun. I'm done with Kel-Tec. I was flamed to no end on KTOG for posting my first hand experiences with Kel-Tec firearms. There is a reason so many people know how "great" KT customer service is; their quality control is awful (and in the case of the P40, the design is faulty as well). My experience with KT service was not great, they never managed to fix any of my problems. The folks on KTOG just accused me of lying or over stating my experiences.
I took the poll about the LCR recall as tongue in cheek, but I voted for three months. I really wouldn't be surprised. Its a new design, and flaws and problems crop up. IMO Ruger is a much higher quality outfit than Kel-Tec, so I'm sure they will get it right eventually, if not right away.
I only own one Ruger at the moment, a SP101, but I have plans for several more (all of them proven designs FWIW). The LCR doesn't interest me for several reasons, not the least of which is that I already have proven Airweight J-frames that fill that role.
What would interest me is a SP101 sized 5-shot .44 Special without any sort of infernal, I mean internal lock. Maybe someday Ruger will come through on that one.
