I went to the range yesterday and had a great time, but now I'm cleaning my guns. I tried to disassemble my Ruger MKII as per instructions and the bolt wont come out. Actually, it will pull out a half an inch and stop cold. Help!! What am I doing wrong?

I have the mainspring housing out.

Check to insure that the hammer strut is not hung up on the cross pin in the gallery it moves in. With bolt held in battery, point the muzzle straight down and, shaking as you go, rotate the pistol towards trigger guard up until the hammer drops to the fired position. If the strut swings freely, the pistol can then be rotated quickly to horizontal so that the strut flops to the rear of the gallery before the hammer falls to the cocked position. If the strut is snug and does not swing freely, use a non-marring tool (tooth pick, Q-tip, plastic dental pick, etc.) to lift the strut over the cross pin and, with the muzzle raised, shake the hammer down to the cocked position.

Oh, OK, got it. Thank you much! Yeah, the book clearly describes how important the hammer strut is in reassembly, but makes no mention of it in disassembly.

Hey guys! I'm having trouble again!

It disassembles OK, but, I am having a devil of a time putting the mainspring housing bolt stop pin in. It doesnt want to go in at all. I dont know if it matters, but this is the first time I removed the barrel for cleaning.

Try the installation instructions on this page. http://www.guntalk-online.com/fsprocedures.htm

These should help you. Your receiver is not positioned properly on the frame and the holes are slightly misaligned. You can insert the bolt stop downwards from the top of the receiver and twist the barrel sightly until it will slip down. Then remove it and reinstall from the bottom. Make sure that your hammer is fully forward or you'll have difficulty seating the mainspring bolt stop too.

Hope this helps.
