Ruger Single six impulse buy..

Ruger makes all of its sights look the same, whether you're shooting a Single-Six or a Redhawk, a Blackhawk, or a GP100. The sights all look the same. Why Ruger does that I don't know, but it's one thing that I don't like about Rugers.

It's called interchangeable parts which has always been one of the strong points of American manufacturing. You want different sights on each different model, be prepared to pay more.

While we're talking about Single Sixes, here are mine. All are Three Screws, not really interested in buying any of the new ones. Two have the old drift adjustable rear sight, the other one has the fancy fully adjustable rear sight.

I have my grandads single six made in 1961 with updated parts and also have the original lock work parts to go with it. Plus a new single six 22/22mag and two 32 mag single sixes. And the 32s are some of my favorite guns for trail walking. And they cost almost nothing to shoot.

I think a Ruger 22/22mag is one of the very best and most useful handguns a person can own. And they are as close to indestructible as you can get in a gun.

What a beautiful collection of 3 screws. I never see them for sale in my area. When I did see one 4yrs ago I paid $450 for it. It had lots of honest wear and is not as nice as yours. Drift adjustable too. Loves the old 40gr .22 mag Super X half jacket HP.

Took it to the range today and ran some rounds through it. It seems more accurate than me . I’ve never been what I would call a good shot shooting a pistol offhand. It seems very accurate once I got used too it. It’ll definitely outlast me, and may become my woods carry varmint gun.

You were not impulsive, you were admirably decisive! Not every good choice requires lots of pondering.

I proposed to my wife after dating 5 weeks. We celebrated 50 years last June.

I proposed to my wife after dating 5 days. It will be 43 years for us this coming June.

I wouldn't have walked away from that Single-Six at this price if I saw it in a sales case today. And I am not impulsive. ;)

My paternal grandfather married my grandmother one week after they met in 1893. He delivered ice in Decatur, Texas, to my widowed grandmother on a Saturday, and they were married on the following Saturday! They had 9 children together, my father was the last in 1916., Their marriage was solid until he passed in 1935, aged 75. My alias is his nickname. He was known as J-Bar because that was his cattle brand, near Clayton, NM.

Which all goes to prove that many fast decisions are good decisions.

Amen J-Bar. Old timers always said go with your gut. Sometimes we overthink things. In my line of work they call it paralysis by analysis

Certainly not trying to be a one-upper here but I told my friend I was going to marry my wife literally the first time I saw her. I hadn't even heard her voice yet.
Of course that friend punched me in the shoulder and laughed. He is her little brother.
It only took me 3 years to convince her. That was 33 years ago next month. Been married 29.
Now to keep it gun related. She took very good care of me for the gift giving holidays in 2020. All the gift cards bought me a 3.5 inch birdhead 1873 45 Colt clone. And she went with me to the gun store. I guess it was an impulse buy since I was actually looking for a 1911.
