Ruger "SIX" (security, speed, service)

Please y'al, no more posts on how great these revolvers are, or how well they shoot and hold up, and how you wouldn't trade yours. ..etc. Prices for the used ones just keep seeming to go up and there's at least one more I want to get.
 
Here's mine. And it's been a great gun so far. After my father bought one a few years ago I had to get one for myself. This one I picked up from a fellow HighRoader, and since then I've added a set of Jay Scott mohogany grips I got from Sarco.

I'm thinking of getting a t-grip for it sometime.

Hello! Rodentman here. I am new to the forum but thought I'd chime in with my Service Six which I bought in Tucson in 1976. Been carried a lot...during my motorcycle days in AZ. I won't part with it....

I love my Security Six. 4" in blue. Got a great product at a fair price and now I want another one. When I first saw the lines of the Security Six I thought "it is perfect." I still think so.
 
You guys are making me want a Ruger Six... I particularly like the look of the 2-3/4" models.

My Dad still has a 4" Security Six he bought new in about 1982. I doubt it has 200 rounds through it, and it's a beauty. :)

Now.....what's up with the difference in the 'beefiness' of the top straps?!
Granted, the Security Six may look a little beefier towards the rear cuz of sight install......but the rest of the topstrap in general looks much more stout on the Security Six than the Speed Six.

Is it just my eyes....or is that true?
 
Some rugers. Included is a 2 3/4" barrel Security Six with fixed sights.

I've been looking to replace a Security Six that got stolen out of my truck for several years.

Finally at a gunshow this Father's Day I found this:

I would have paid a whole bunch more but I got it for $299.

So, keep looking. Every so often a Ruger "Six" will make it to a pawn shop or a gunshow. You had just better hope I don't see it first.
 
Just bought my first Security Six, 2 3/4" barrel, don't have pictures yet. I plan on getting a really good holster for it soon, but in the mean time can anybody suggest an inexpensive, decent holster? Somewhere around $30 or so.

In that price range you are probably looking at something from Uncle Mike's or a Bianchi Accumold model. Most places will not list models for the Six series guns so look for something that will fit a K or L frame Smith and Wesson.

The Speed Six

was my duty weapon for years.I felt good having it with me-for a 2 3/4" barrel in the hands of someone like me who was no great shot,it was accurate and reliable as could be.We shot the hot little R-P 110 grain rounds and never any flame cutting or forcing cone damage.It was dropped numerous times and used to break car/house windows,and as a substitute baton.:D
Too bad I had to turn it in.
 
Always feel good to go with my stainless 2.5" Security Six with Badger grips, stoked with medium to hot .357 125gr GDHP's. After countless rounds it's still as tight as the day it came out of the factory and balances well for me.
