I'm looking for a little input. I want to purchase a new handgun for mostly range use, but also for HD. I currently own a TZ-75 (clone of the CZ75), and this firearm was purchased used (well used); and I do not trust it. Occasional FTF, FTE, etc.
So I've been doing some research (visited a couple shops, searching the forums, etc). I've looked at the Glock 17, M&P 9, XD, Beretta 92, and the SR9 in person. I have not been able to find a P-01 in person yet. External safety (or decocker) is a preference, and that is what ruled out the Glock. The DA/SA is also a preference, but I could probably get used to the striker fired guns. XD didn't wow me especially with the grip safety.
I like how the SR9 feels in hand. Also benefits are the lesser cost, and easy availability. Whereas, I already have 3 mags for the TZ which should be interchangeable with the P-01 (saving some money). But I have not been able to find a P-01 (granted I've only tried the 2 closest shops so far).
Would I be making a mistake buying a P-01 (online) without handling it, or just test fire the SR9 and probably stick with that? I was really set on a SP-01 (or Phantom), but I like the mid-size semi-autos a little better.
I also have a 22/45 and 2 10/22's; so I don't have any issues with Rugers.
Thanks,
Josh
