Picked up a long-awaited SR1911 on St. Patrick's Day. Took her to the range for the first time today firing various loads & bullet types with no snags. Was very please right up until I examined my spent brass to discover that every rim was badly mangled making them unserviceable for reload .
Looks like the extractor is mangling the rim on both the load and extract cycle. Examination of the fired case that came along with the sidearm revealed the same signature mangling . Disappointed as I would have thought Ruger would have caught that at the factory when they test fired the weapon. At least on this occasion it appears the fired case was not examined for problems..shame. Intended to use her as my EDC too.
Good news is the factory is five minutes away; will swing by there Monday and have them take a look. Pending resolution guess I'll stick with of the Colts.
