Yep. I reload using some 9MM S&B brass, and the are tight. It takes a little more effort to de-prime them, but priming them with new primers seems normal to me.
big nugget, What caliber and when did you see steel S&B cases? I've never seen any. Never seen brass plated steel cases in any brand or caliber. Curious.
Hope this isn't a stupid question but would the brass coated cases wear dies out like steel cases supposedly do? Or is it just better to chuck brass coated cases?
For progressive press reloading 9mm S&B, I discard them, after discovering that these are the ones that will later cause a bad primer seating to stop the press and cost time. 9mm brass is just not that precious. Swaging was not worth my time and didn't always solve the problem, perhaps because of the relatively short chamfer angle.
The odd thing is; I find S&B on occasion in my lots of once fired military brass. I know there is no NATO stamp but none the less they show up. I have no explanation just passing on the info.
I guess it would be helpful if I gave a background to the tale. I own a small company that buys (inspects, cleans) and resells once fired military brass. That is how I came across the 9mm S&B brass from a military base.
Simple. Some soldiers/airmen/marines are clever enough to get permission to use the base range(s) to fire their personal weapons. They use ammo they buy.
I might add that some bases have units that use non-standard ammo bought under separate contracts. The AFOSI I know used to use some Federal ammo. There are others.
