I find the snub 625, with either .45 ACP ammo or .45 Super, very use full.

That and a good S&W Mountian gun.

Note 230 gr .45 Supers chrono at 1000 fps from my 625. And with Autorim cases 250 gr LSWs get 1000 fps to (yes handloading to .45 Super pressures, not to be used in any gun but the 625.)

I got one years ago when S&W was offering a $50.00 rebate. Mine has a 5" barrel, the FP is in the frame & it has no yukky lock. I really like that bead-blasted finish. It's the most accurate revolver I own - one-hole groups at 25 yds. with my handloads. And, at the time I got it, I didn't know it fires 45 Auto Rim. I got a good supply of moon clips & the loading/unloading tool. I also got a supply of those polymer moon clips that load & unload with very little finger pressure - I think the company is called "Rimz."

Had a problem with my 625-3 (Mod. of 1989). Bought it used. After about 5 rounds, it would lock up. Discovered the firing pin bushing was recessed and the primers were backing out. Smith paid the freight both ways and fixed it better than new (apparently). Really a sweet shooter. Mine is marked only: ".45 CAL." , but it has a short cylinder and won't chamber a .45 Colt.
