I would and DID choose the M&Ps. I own a M&P 9C and the M&P 9 full size. They are two of the best shooting guns I have ever handled. I have a ton of rounds through my 9C and its a champ.

There you go....I fixed for you. :)
There you go gettin' all technical on me when I get all technical on you. ;)

Seriously though Crazy Coot, both are great pistols. What works for me, or for Gun Slinger, or for whomever else, may not work for you. That's why I didn't vote in the poll. Now if it had been Lorcin/Bryco/Jennings/Cobra against Glock, I would have voted Glock because it's significantly better than Cobra, etc. in every way. You just have to find out which one is best for YOU.

MP All the Way!

I own Three MP's currently. I shoot better with the MP. Glock just cannot match the ergonomics of the MP. They are both Very reliable.

The Best to All!

Well covered, Defense Minister.

Maybe a couple more...

Better feeling trigger on the M&P after break-in (that's subjective), but complaints are that the reset is not as crisp as the Glock.

I don't like ALL the plastic on Glocks - sites, magazines, guide rod, and the tiny trigger safety piece (it's better on the XD).

Polygonal rifling on the Glock means that you are not supposed to use lead ammo. This can lead to KBs, in addition to that caused by a poorly supported chamber and the past problem with firing out of battery. The last point may be fixed now.

Battered brass from the poor chamber support in a Glock, so reloading is not as cost-effective (or not possible?).

I had to make the decision between the M&P and the Block in the past. My choice was clear.

I voted M&P because it really doesn't matter what everyone else carries or how long a gun has been around. If that were the case, I'd have a Mil Spec 1911 .45.

Some people trust their lives to a derringer .22 so what others trust their lives to really doesn't matter either.

I voted M&P because I shoot it much better than any Glock I've ever shot. I voted M&P because the handles recoil better than a Glock so I can get back on target quicker.

I voted M&P because FOR ME, it's the better gun.

Shoot em both and see what works for you. If you can't hit the broad side of a bard with an M&P, well, it just isn't the gun for you now is it?

Glock because there is no M&P in 10mm

Best argument I've heard for Glock yet.
So.... Are the 10mm Glocks better than any M&P, or does that mean all other Glocks are better than M&Ps? Should we compare the M&P40 against the Glock 26, or maybe the M&P9c against the Glock 21? I don't follow the logic - sounds like comparing apples to oranges :scrutiny:

M&P I even switched it to my Duty gun I liked my Glock but what ever I aim at I can hit with the M&P I have 4 of them now 9mm compact,.40 M&P, and two .45's in the M&P.

The logic is he apparently likes 10mm so if he wants his pistol to be a 10mm he has to get the Glock. A 10mm M&P would be a BEAST. I would love to get that one, especially with the 5 inch barrel. How about adjustable sights and camo and they call if the Hunter Model. YEAH!!!

What if I want a 4x4 truck? Should I get a Toyota or an M&P? :)
I know, I see your point and I'm being a little difficult.

I would LOVE to see an M&P10 with a 5 inch barrel. Now you have me drooling!!

If you want a 4X4 truck I would suggest a Chevy. They are a super deal right now. But they won't shoot 10mm.

Magazine Disconnect.

Why?

I dislike daytime Idiot lights & won't buy another GM car until they disappear. Headlights should be either ON or OFF any other setting = broken.

I HATE that dinging noise when I'm moving my car in the driveway, I haven't exceeded 7 miles per hour. I know my seat belt is off. I have no need for a car to EVER tell me I am WRONG & that's the main reason I won't buy another FORD. They must have tortured small animals to find the most heart wrenching frequency they could get...

Forcing me to accept new gadgets by marketing them as the latest and greatest state of the art safety features won't work.

Safety is between the ears; it comes as a result of the operator's actions and attitude - both of a car and a firearm. It can't be bought. It can be taught.

I want reliability, quality, longevity and ease of operation. So between these two I pick the Glock.

Magazine Disconnect...
You DO NOT have to have a Mag Disconnect on an M&P. That is an option that you can choose not to have. Even IF you accidentally buy the version that has the MD, it is very easily defeated and it has no effect on the trigger feel. "I want reliability, quality, longevity and ease of operation." Yep, the M&P has all that. Was the MD your only hangup with the M&P?

I know my seat belt is off. I have no need for a car to EVER tell me I am WRONG...
I cannot tell you that I AGREE enough!!! OMG, that would drive me crazy! I would tear the car apart to disable that beeper. Both of my cars have dash lights that come on when you are not wearing your seatbelt. Well, they used to have those lights. I can't stand a car telling me when to put my seatbelt on (I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt). If I needed to move my car, like 50 feet, I would not use my seatbelt and the light annoyed me at night. I took the dash apart and removed the lights in each car. If my car came with a buzzer(!!!) for that, I would turn around and go right back to the dealership.

i would have to take the glock because of it's proven track record and avaliable parts and accesories, however i do prefer the m&p's ergos, grip angle, and sights to that of the glock.

I chose Glock! There is nothing wrong with the M&P I just prefer the Glock over the M&P.

However, its up to you-personal preference!
Its whatever you feel comfortable with, both are good choices!!

M&P for ME

What Defence Minister said. He forgot to mention that it has a extractor like the old makarov, which is hooked into the frame to prevent blow out from a kaboom also, along with the steel chassis is the fact that there are steel bands molded in the frame to take care of the frame flex known in glocks. Glocks are fine in my book but, I traded in my two glocks for two M&P's. Now if S&W can make their M&P 15 as reliable as the pistol.

I had to make the decision between the M&P and the Block in the past.

LOL!!! ...the Block. I hadn't heard it put that way before. And thanks for reminding me about the metal guide rod in the M&P instead of the plastic one in the Glock and the different rifling. I knew there was something about the rifling that was different, but I couldn't remember exactly what it was and I didn't want to get the facts wrong.

Also, thank you, havoc7usmc, for the reminder about the steel bands in the frame that keep frame flex to a minimum.

When you add all this up and take into consideration the kaboom problems Glock has had, it makes a guy wonder why anyone would buy Gaston's perfekt little pistol anymore. It was a fantastic weapon in it's day, and it did revolutionize the defensive pistol world, I just think it's reign has come to an end.

Both pistols are reliable "out-of-the-box", accurate enough for all intended purposes and well-made. I voted for the Smith because the only real difference for me between the two is how they point and handle. For me, the M&P felt the best-and by a wide margin.
