I have owned my M&P 9 for almost 2 months. I am more than impressed with this new pistol. I have fired close to 500 rounds, of all types of ammo, without a single malfunction. It is the most accurate semi-auto I have ever fired. The trigger pull is smooth and consistent with every shot.
Mine does not have the IL lock, but does have the magazine safety..which I have gotten used to. Many people criticize the "Slide Release" of the M&P. It was not designed as a release, but as a "Slide Stop". Inserting a full magazine into the weapon will automatically close the slide, thus eliminating the need for a Slide Release. In a fighting situation it is better not to run the gun dry, but rather insert a new magazine before the slide locks open...thus making the Slide Release a mute point.
