Word is that gun is built on the Redhawk frame. There has been much discussion of it on the internet, and folks are confused why Ruger decided to name it the GP100 when it isn't a GP100 frame.

FYI for those who are interested. I asked Ruger what frame the Super GP100 Competition is built on. They said it's built on the Super Redhawk frame.

I have that 327 snub. Had TK Custom do some work on it. Installed their competition bobbed hammer, their competition trigger, did an action job, added an extended firing pin, and did a lock delete and plug. Trigger is right around 7lbs, butter smooth, and so far lights off everything I shoot in it. I put some Nill combat grips on mine and it fits like a glove. Looks good too. I may have the sights changed at some point. Cylinder and Slide quoted me a fixed rear and a tritium front. I primarily carry buffalo bore 150 grain hardcast wadcutters. Recoil/flip is fine with the BB and they really have penetration. I can post some pics when I get a chance. I really wish Crimson Trace did round butt green laser grips for N-frames.

Oh! Interesting! I would love to see pictures. I do like the factory sites, but I would be interested in knowing what CS quoted you. Either here or by PM. Of my grip choices I was down to the Crimson Trace red and these Hogue Monogrips, I went with the Hogue because if I didn't like them I would only take $20. If I didn't like the CT then I would have been out quite a bit more. I am unfamiliar with the Nill I will have to Google those up.

I have a 327 Night Guard. Mine was made in 2012 with the 2 1/2” barrel. It is probably my favorite revolver, but I only can find one photo of it right now. I will have to remedy that. And this one is a poor photo at that.

After I bought this one I had the weirdest issue. It would hit true to aim for 6 out of 8 rounds but 2 were fliers to the right, sometimes 4-5 inches to the right at 10-15 yards. At first I thought it was a cylinder issue but testing proved I didn’t have a couple of defective chambers. It turned out the crown was cut funny. (I know I had photos of this but cannot find them) It appeared as if someone just didn’t finish the crown properly and two of the grooves had metal burs at the crown.

I sent the gun back to S&W. They told me that they could find nothing wrong with the barrel, but it came back recrowned. o_O
Fair enough, that’s what I wanted so I didn’t argue with them.
The revolver shoots great and I love it.
I especially like the fact that as big as it is, my 5’1” wife shoots this gun better and with more confidence than any of my other handguns, which is why it’s the bedroom gun.

When I sent it back to S&W I inquired about changing the barrel to a 5” barrel. They told me that my model gun was only made 1 year, 2012. And that the only barrel available was the 2 1/2”. The way the 2 piece barrel system is secured is unique only to guns made that year. That concerned me but the people I talked to assured me that even though they changed the way the barrels were mounted that it wasn’t done because there was a problem. One gentleman actually said if anything it was a better system and the system was changed to save money and time.

Regardless, I am actually glad I didn’t have the option to change the barrel. I love this revolver. Besides, it gives me an excuse to buy a TRR8.

Did TK Custom do the lock delete? Do they have their own plugs?

Yup, they did a great job. Yes, they have their own plugs. Can't recommend them enough. And they are fairly fast. I had the gun back after about a week and a half or so, but I am sure that can vary.

I have been a bit tied up. I will try to post up some pictures tomorrow. Cylinder and Slide quote, for full custom rear and front sights with tritium in both front and back, plus guaranteed POA = POI at your chosen distance with your chosen ammo is approx $700. They have to cut a custom dovetail on the front and they have to machine the frame to get the rear sights on. You really have to want it bad to drop that coin on the sights. You will never get that investment back selling it.

To be honest, I am reasonably ok with the stock sights, but they are completely useless in twilight or darker conditions. And the N-frame laser from CT is big, bulky and kills concealability IMO.

Clint Smith carries one as an ankle gun. Lemme repeat that, Clint Smith carries a freaking n frame as an ankle gun.
Who is Clint Smith? Why would he carry an N frame in his ankle. I don’t know who this person is but a google search turned around a Harvard speaker.

Nice close quarter battle weapon, should carry well in a shoulder or OWB holster. I tried wood and synthetic bantam grips on my 686 and went back to full rubber OE grips.

I think an extra half to 3/4 inch more added to the barrel would make the gun appear more balanced, add to the sight radius as well as help add velocity to the round. It wouldn't add any appreciable weight, or make it harder to conceal.
It is a nice Performance Center S&W revolver.
If the OP is happy with his purchase, that's all that matters
