S&W SW40VE Why Not? S&W $50 Rebate 10/1/09

I just got a S&W Club 1852 First Look Email.

Special Promo on Sigma Series, $50 dollar rebate or two free extra magazines.

Buds has a SW40VE for 299. - 50 = $249. Plus Transfer.

That's a .40 cal (or 9mm) 15 round 4 inch barrel, 24 oz.
It seems it needs some trigger work/springs.

Would make a nice truck piece or all around beater.

Maybe the rebate/mag deal for other versions are coming. Please.

Go for it. I have heard good things about the current Sigmas and at that price it would be a great truck gun in 40 cal. Can you post up the rebate form?

You will encounter a lot of hatred for the Sigma's modern descendants.

But, check over at the Smith and Wesson Forum - lots of satisfied customers are there.

Why get one?

Fourteen x a caliber that starts with 4 = one of the top ten rules of a gunfight (though I personally am a 9mm man)
A really nice grip (and plenty of aftermarket Hogue Handalls and Glock socks for it)
It's two-tone. I like two-tone.
I like Smith and Wesson. Alot. Despite those who don't like the IL's on revolvers or mutter about "Smith and Klinton." They make good, reliable pieces.

$250 for a reliable, major caliber, new, US made, lifetime warranted, handgun. There's no reason not to.

why not is a great question. that handgun was the first handgun that i really shot/ trained with, i remember them being accurate, 100% reliable, and yeah the trigger was a little rough but with good training you will be able to manipulate it just fine. this handgun is the reason that i am such a fan of polymer handguns. i do shoot glock and xd's now, but the sigma is very worthwhile and worth the price of admission.

I Had one and did not like it. It never shot to point of aim which was important to me so I sold it and got a 1911. Much much better.

My very first polymer striker-fire handgun was a 40VE that I bought back in 2000. I ened up selling after about year to buy a Glock 22.

It was a pretty decent gun and it's still a very good value. The most common complaint you hear is about the trigger, it's not the greatest but it's not the worst either.

I've been considering picking up a new one also. It would make a great truck gun.

I've pulled the trigger on at least a dozen Sigmas. Several were OK. One was really OK. The remainder were truly horrid, horrible, insanely bad OHMIGOD terrible.

The balance of the gun seems fine and robust enough. I know of a gunsmith that does a decent trigger job on 'em. But since I can buy an M&P for the cost of a Sigma plus trigger job, I just cut to the chase and bought into the M&P line.

Offer valid October 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. It will be on their site soon.

I don't think I would take the magazine offer. Seems lots of folks have waited many moons to get theirs and some are still weeping with desire.

The offer says wait 8-10 weeks for processing? :scrutiny: Does processing mean fulfillment? :uhoh:

As tempting as this may be I am waiting for the $50 dollars on the M&P Line.

I've had my 40VE for about three years probably about 800rds or so through it, No Issues and I like the lightweight for a gun that holds 15rds of .40cal. :)

Go for it. The only complaint that you will hear from most naysayers is that the trigger pull is too heavy. What most people don't know is that you can call S&W customer service about the heavy trigger, and they will have you send it LGS for a free trigger job. (The trigger was made intentionally heavy as a concession to Glock to end the patent infringement lawsuit.)

This is where Sigmas go to be made right with the world:
