Sorry to hear about your Victory takedown screw problem. I read a few early reviews where the screw came loose or wouldn't stay put without Loctite to keep it in place. Maybe this over torqued situation with your pistol was S&W's answer to the problem.

Have to admit mine was a bear to break loose as well. Have heard of people with success using an O ring to keep the screw from loosening in the future, without resorting to excessive torque.

I've seen the o-ring trick and also the use of a lock washer.

Can't wait to shoot mine.
For some unknown reason, I moved away from rimfire several years ago in favor or bigger calibers, but just
recently I have rediscovered the joy of spending all day at the range with a couple of 550 round boxes of .22

The things the Beretta has going for it are the itty bitty grip and ultra light weight feeling in hand.
That and the fact it looks more like a SciFi movie prop gun than a "scary" real gun, not intimidating at all to new shooters. Biggest negative to me is that the safety rotates the wrong way.

My favorite is the S&W M22A 7.5" fluted bull barrel. I've run over 100K rounds through mine, its been back to S&W three times, once for an out of the box defect, but so far they have always fixed it for free and paid the shipping both ways. I'd have a Victory if it used the M22A mags -- looks like S&W did with the M22A mags going to the Victory what Ruger did with the Mk II mags when going to the MkIII just enough to make them incompatible :(
